Banging head on wall trying to figure out the best stud pattern for 137 track

Protip: Buy the Studboy template from Dennis Kirk ($7 shipping) or ebay (sometimes free shipping),

Dan, your lugs (the top of them) look a little chewed up in the pictures? Is it just the pictures?? It almost looked like you cut the lugs down...?? Maybe it’s just the lighting?
Lol no mine is the same it's brand new!
It s just excess material from manufacturing

1.630's lake racers for me...stayed out of center 3.5" a must for longer studs) all singlesView attachment 141430 View attachment 141431
Wow trail sled? I would like to ride this setup for a 350miles ride.. I think you would be angry on my return.
I have 1.325 gold digger all center for security. I compromise performance over durability....

Sled was brand new...likely just from riding it into my garage and got that white concrete dust on lugs.

I got mine from studboy and while the price was good, they dinged me for shipping.....I called them and told them they were crazy and they gave me half back. LOL.

Good to know you can grab them elsewhere, as the template is quite nice.

So with 144 of them on a tuned machine it hooks up good? I have shorter stainless ones that just spun and they all started to bend and break. Was going to replace with a good steel stud that was longer this year. Worked good when stock but at 260 it was a no go.
I dont think anything really can hook these up fully at 270hp....But for me it hooks up really well, but Im just trail riding.

SS studs have always sucked, i never used them but seen buds try them yrs ago and all bent.

I like GDs...but I think megabites are a good choice too and likely cheaper.....also would not mind using the larger head studs for single ply tracks, they will never pull thru, but will add some weight.

1.450s come with their medium(tall) nut.....one thing nice about the longer sizes is they come with the TALL(tall) nuts....and the couple I have that bent, would not have bent with the tallest nuts...but they claim the medium are the ones that go with my size, but I think i could fit tallest nuts.

Yeah the 1.325s are what woodys recommends for 1.25 tracks. But you see alot of guys here running quite long studs, and im sure they are killer for lake running and hookup. As far as longevity, I like to stay abit more conservative to get a few seasons out of them. My dealer thinks Im crazy just with the 1.450s lol

These are two templates I have for a 137" track. I'm looking for some insight, does anyone have a preference, can recommend an alteration (like using different holes for the 2 singles in pattern A or B) or see an issue with any of these patterns. I used Pattern C last season with 1.325's in a 1.25" track. This season I might go a little longer with a similar track. Thanks in advance.

Mine scrached the center protector a bit but not bad!! I added the studs to the outside windows over the summer to try this season!

You can’t mix woodies double backers and studboy template and studboy double backers with woodies template. Incase anyone is wondering. The hole center to center is different in them. From what me and my father had anyway.
