mod 08 nytro, 2-2007 phazers and a 2010 sno pro 500 speedwerx exterminator. new 2014 nytro for towing the snowcoach. 2015 Viper mpi turbo
I took out the battery and took it to the dealer because it wouldnt keep a charge, I took it in right after I had it on the charger, they tested it and told me it was just like a new one. I go back home install it and it cranked it over really slow and was dead, not even 2 minutes worth of cranking and it was dead!. Next I took one out of the other phazers and it spun the motor 10 times faster and it fired right up.So is the battery good when it is charged and when it is under a start load it goes dead???? any info on this would be great and does anyone know off hand the cost of a new one???? thanks

agree with spike, get a new one. most have good luck with the stock one, i would just replace it with another stock one. best not tp cheep out.

It is a good question though. Can a guy actually hear it turning over a little slower over time? Any warnings? Doubtfull i guess?

even fully charged it turned over slow, when I put the other one in, it spun it that you noticed it right away.I will have to wait until monday to go get a new one.

i ran into this same thing last weekend. took awhile to start the first day, went riding for the rest of the day no problems.
next day go out to fire it up, cranked over & hear it slowly dying. pissed me off. put it on the charge for 2 minutes, jump boost to start & was fine for the rest of the day.

i will be getting a new battery indeed.

part# for yuasa is ytx14-bs (stock 200 cca)
or the one i'm getting for a little insurance is ytx14h-bs (240 cca).

haven't found more cca in the size we need.

What battery charger did you use? Very possible your battery has a "float charge" condition. Equals: No load condition possible.

Many times this condition is due to using the wrong battery charger. Highly recommend a charger of your choice from this company.

Your battery has a condition that may not be able to get rid of. Given the vital need of a battery in your sled, purchase a new one.

for me i had a trickle charger, 1.5 amp on it, 2 weeks before the snow even hit the ground.

few seconds after i put it on, it changed to green. i then left it on there for the rest of the day.

it's getting to be 4 yrs old, i might as well change it. some just have bad luck i guess.

Found this replacement sealed gel battery for the Phazer. 246cca

Anyone that has one of these, please report your experience.
$135.00 is pricey.

ouch.

cheapest yuasa high performance battery is $89 depending on where you look.

what brand should I go with, a new one from the dealer or an aftermarket brand?

Keep in mind that Yamaha does not manufacture batteries. My question is the stock battery is a Yuasa. Unless someone chimes in, I will get the stock part number for you (I have the stock factory battery).

Caution: If anyone is thinking about the Gel battery, keep in mind that you need a charger that will charge it properly. Many battery chargers will only charge a lead acid battery.

i have never had an issue with the yussa batteries. my dads artic cat battery crapped out after a year, replaced with the same kind that comes with yanahas ans never had a problem since.
