I've poked around and can't find any discussion on battery life. I get 4 to 5 yrs on all my motorcycle batteries. How long are we running on the original?....snomo53
Just replaced mine on an 06 Apex. It was shot however I never put it on a battery tender. I removed it every Spring and kept it inside

It really depends upon how well it is stored. I don't put mine on a battery tender and I seem to get about 3 years out of the battery.
You will know when it needs replaced as the needle on the gauges will go haywire.

my 06 rtx battery is still good and started the sled perfect after sitting all summer. I think after 4 or 5 years it becomes more of a piece of mind to have a new battery just so you know its not going to give you trouble.

No issues with my 06. Sits in a trailer all summer. Starts right up every fall. I do charge it with a Optimate spring and fall.

I'm still running the original in my '06 Attak. I leave it in the sled all year long and start it up about once a month in the summer and let it get to operating temp, spin the track a few times and shut her down.

My 03 RX-1 battery lasted 4 seasons, only charged up fully before every season, and then maint charged the last few days prior the first ride of the season.
Did the same on the new battery a few weeks ago, will maint charge it again before the first ride.
Same with the '08 Apex, works for me. I use the Optimate III charger.

My buddy's '05 RX1 still has his OEM w/13.000kms and leaves it on a OPTIMATE III year around, if you keep a battery in top condition it'll last a LONGGGG time...best example look at a car that driven on short distances, stop'n go all the time the battery will not last poop! cuz its not getting charged long enough but someone that drives long distances on a daily basis will get a nice long charge and will last forever, my father in laws good old 1989 F150 w/400.000kms still had its OEM battery when he traded in, he drove it mostly highway everyday for 100kms...

Mine only lasted a year and a half, but I used my car charger on it last year which I think contributed to its quick demise. When I purchased my new battery I was advised not to charge it with more than a 2A setting. Last year I was using the 10A quick charge. This year I purchased an Optimate battery tender so I won't have to worry about blowing it out again.

I put a new battery in every season. I had an 05 rx-1 that was fine the first season. I took the battery out and stored it in the basement during the summer. The following season all was well and the battery took a charge and worked good, until it got to -30 one night at 1am when I was trying to leave on it and it turned over about 5 times and then died.... Now I put a new one in every season. Usually give my old one to a friend who uses it another season. I just dont want to be left again.....

A good battery tender is the ticket. Optimate series is good -- I'm sure lots of TY'ers would attest to them.
