Battery Removal

ive got mine torn apart right now and it looks like you have to take off the air stacks from the air box to remove the air box to get to it.

i was trying to get to the battery and charge it and i see once you unhook the strap in the front the throttle body are still holding the aur stacks to the box w/ the clamps so it looks like you would have to unsrew all the screw clamps and slide the box out. is this correct way?

Can't you charge it with the leads that come off of the battery located near the oil tank on the right side of the machine. Why do you have to remove the battery to charge it up?

You are correct. The air box including undoing the clamps has to happen first and in order to get at the clamps easily, you almost have to follow the full procedure that you would, to get at the oil filter which is just UNDER the battery. Ulmer has a good photo description. You can find it in the first few posts of this forum entitled Sticky: Apex/Attak Frequently Asked Questions, then under Fluids: Engine Oil: Change Instructions with Pics.

Battery

Just took my 06 Attak all apart to change the oil filter. What a big pain in the A%$. To get to the battery you must take the air box off which means loosening all four clamps to the engine and unhooking 3 hoses, and also an air sensor on the side of the box. According to the manual, you don't have to change the oil filter every oil change, but I'd figure i would do it for my first oil change. Funny thing is once you have everything apart they want you to warm the engine up to drain the oil. Everything is apart, so you can't start the engine and you can't start the engine before you take everything apart beacuse by that time the engine will be cold again. I love it.
