I just blew the driven shaft bearing on my 03 (4,400 miles). The split collars did not let go, the bearing simply failed. My dealer insists I cannot upgrade to an 04 bearing with locking collar without changing the shaft as well. It seems to me some of you have made this change without changing the shaft. Is this true? If so, does anyone have the right part number? Thanks.

the bearing is the same from 03-05 all you need tahts differnt is the 04-05 coller and nut it all fits your stk jack shaft and bulk head no problem. just go to the parts finder and look up the part #,s tat all most of us on here have done including my self

Thanks Black John. Do you still use the split rings and then back them up with the collar, or does the collar replace them? By the way, I want to thank you for the great info on the primary clutch some time ago. I went with the spring you recommended and kept things pretty much stock beyond that. What a difference getting that engine above 10 grand! You know your stuff.

the new coller repaces the old split ring. here are the part # coller 8fa-176465-10-00. nut 8fa-17642-00-00. bearing 93306-20650-00 or if you can find a bearing shop that handles it a 6205K the k is for the tapered bore

6205K the k is for the tapered bore

"K" Does not stand for tapered bore in a ball bearing. K is just one of the many manufactures nomenclature for seals or shields. (ie) 6205-2RS means the brg is a 25mm straight bore with 52mm OD and 15mm width having 2 rubber seals. 6205-2Z means the brg has 2 steel shields. This would be SKF nomenclature used for example.

However in the spherical roller bearings "K" does stand for tapered bore. (ie) 22238YMK means the bearing has a 190mm tapered bore, 340mm OD, and a 92mm width. YM stands for 1 piece bronze cage-finger type and the "K" calls out tapered bore. This is Timken/Torrington nomenclature used in example.

Is this the bearing carrying the shaft at the driven clutch end?

PS> I just did a track swap and my jackshaft bearing (by speedo sensor)was on the way out with only 3600 miles. Lucky to catch it.. The seal was there and in tack but so loose I could take it out with my fingers. I imagine it was only beingheld in by the mounting colar. NO grease left in it. I could not feel or see it until removed...
