Got ~1700 miles on the Attak so far this year. I checked the belt regularly. It looks in great shape. Just curious of when most of you change belts. The sled runs great. Motor pulls 10400 to 10800 RPMs depending on snow conditions.
Also
I had to add approx 8oz of oil in that same time frame. Seems ok for me.
Is that about normal.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds about right. Make sure you keep proper belt deflection.

I have 4000kms on my '08 APEX, no oil comsumption and I usually throw on a new belt every new season and new hyfax's, 6000 to 8000kms average a year.

Just changed mine at 6800 miles. It was still within the Yamaha width spec, but I had some fuzz in the belt area from one of the belt threads. When I used to see the fuzz on my Skidoo, the belt was ready to go.

if you trail ride and are not a hard rider who beats sled....these belts can last 5000+ miles no prob...
but if you ride hard, and run deep powder on lakes where you build alot of heat...the belt might look fine, then blow apart and make a mess....
I personally think changing to knew belt every season is worth it....ive seen them blow and can mess things up bigtime...
i put 2000-3000 miles on in a season, lot of trails and lakes....they look fine but i still change to new every fall.
be sure to measure oil level after sled is warmed up....i rarely have ever added oil.

I ride my sled hard and I change my belts every 6000 miles.
I'm still on the original belt with my 07 RTX.
I monitor my oil consumption very carefully and so far haven't noticed more than about 0.020" drop on the dipstick between oil changes. Basically by the time I change the oil, I can't be certain that it has dropped at all. I change my oil every ~3000 km, instead of 4000km though.

what is the normal oil consumption for 1000 mi.?

I ride hard and blew my first belt at 4000 miles. A couple hundred miles before it blew it started to squeal when coming to stops and when taking off. Now I know what to listen for and when I start hearing that again I will change it. Also my blew when cruising down the trail at about 30 or 40mph, not doing a Wide Open lake run.
