I was wondering what riders are typically getting for miles on their drive belts? I just blew (and I mean it disintegrated!) my belt this past weekend riding normally for 2000 miles. Just curious, I have 13k on my 700sx and have replaced worn belts, but I never blew one.

gotta love that hi strung stock clutching.................... not, change a few cheap parts on the primary ,help belt life, helps ease of ride and helps gas mileage

1500 hard miles on mine. Thinking of switching before it explodes into a million pieces. I've never seen a belt completely grenade into such tiny pieces like a yamaha does...Its almost like they disappear!

I know, I'll be cleaning belt fuzz for the next year out of it!!!

I am on my 3rd belt in 3600 miles, first two exploded into pieces, one at 300, and another at 1200, the last one 3400, I caught before it did, could feel some vibration and found a 5 inch piece of the top ribbing missing. I have to say now that I have a new belt with Ulmers clutching my sled is a ton faster, guess I will see how long this one lasts with the new clutching.

Had 3356 miles on a Yammi belt and it exploded, thank God for a rev limiter. As for a fix, clean your new belt with hot soapy water, keep your clutch sheaves clean, and periodically check/verify clutch alignment and center to center distance. Also, "break in" a new belt by taking it easy for the first 20 miles or so. Believe it or not it seems to make a difference if you clean 'em and break 'em in.

Not sure on the Nytro about after market belts. I can tell you my SRX will shred non-OEM belts way faster than factory belts.
