i don't know, it seems to be the luck of the draw for me. some belts go 1kmiles, others last forever? maybe its the ol monday vs friday syndrome at the belt factory. who knows? biggest thing that saves me is just peeking under the hood every day, and stopping if u feel ANY sort of cogging while engaging. swap it out as soon as it delaminates or looses teeth and no explosions. also learned that first thing cold as he11 lake runs explodes belts too. took out 2 on my srx last year back to back.

Must be we have freak of nature Nytros. I have the same amount of miles and belt is still in tact. I don't consider my riding style as a sunday driver either.

In our group of what used to be three Nytro's, I think the average belt life was about 1300 miles. This is with a 20 mile break-in, but I haven't tried the dish washer trick yet.

I blew my first belt last week at 1200 miles. Not sure where half of it went. The other half was jammed into the secondary. Took us a half hour to pull it all out. Commented to my buddy he will be due for one soon....1100 miles on his apex. The next day his belt went. We put a brand new Gates Extreme on and it didn't last even 75 miles and it was destroyed.

Does anybody have any comparisons between Yamaha belts and Dayco or other brands? Is one better than the other? What about price vs. longevity? Would also be curious to know who makes Yamaha's belts.
