Bergstrom 6" carbides, 3/8" ski savers & shims

Shane, I ran my stock ski's for my first ride on the Attak. This was at a TY ride in Munising. Couldn't hardly hold the bars it darted so bad. That night in the garage at the motel, I switched out my stock carbides to a new spare set of 8"Triplepoints, 3/8" skisaver. and a 1/4" shim in the rear of the ski rubber. Next day, VOILA!! No darting!! Could run over 100 one handed. No slow speed, medium speed, or any other kind of speed darting. That being said, if you ride your Attak off trail, you'll need wider ski's. The stockers will NOT float at all. I now run Slydog Powderhounds with the same setup as the stock ski's. The Slydogs will need to be shimmed under the FRONT of the ski bumper. I am using 3/8" shims per Scott Bergstroms reccomendation. If you don't ride off trail , the stockers with the above mentioned setup work fine. Hope this helped you make your decision

THANKS DAVE! It certainly did. How about the "push" in the corners? Do the bergstroms grip well? 99% of my riding is done on trail. Really the only time I am in deep fresh stuff is after a big snow fall and we are bombing down the trail so floatation isn't a real big concern of mine. Thanks for replying. I appreciate it.

Using Scott's recommendations for length, I am fairly certain you'll be happy with the performance of the stock ski. The biggest change after shimming and changing carbides was reducing my transfer and learning to never let the throttle snap closed. By doing these 2 things you settle the chassis, i.e., not rocking back and forth. REALLY helps the carve in the turn and exit speed. Takes a lilttle while to learn but makes a huge difference!! Wow what a difference! I cannot believe the improvement in the darting and hunting. Thanks Scott your recomendations were bang on and these are the Yamaha mountain skis on both our RX1 shorty and mountain.
