I appreciate the info. Under a grand is nice lol. Bought the sled isn't cheap as you all know. Then the extras that are not above items add up too.
I thought max spool was bigger flash. I'll have to look

Bottom line is there are a LOT of options to make these Turbo machines faster for a small amount of money per HP, compared to sleds that are NA, be it 2 stroke or 4 stroke.

A person can spend $1400 on a set of pipes and map for the 850 two stroke and only gain 12 hp.
Spend that much on a sidewinder and you get over another 100 hp.
So there is your best bang for your buck!

dont get weak in the knees, your in this deep with sled and a bunch of other things to go with snowmobiling, what's another thousand? Cant use common sense in these decisions, you got rid of that when you bought a snowmobile.I appreciate the info. Under a grand is nice lol. Bought the sled isn't cheap as you all know. Yup that 1" track on any SRX will net you nice top end numbers, those are great gps numbers Nitro, was sled studded, and what distance and conditions?Depends what model you have, but the 21/41 gearing that most Winders have will get you more than 117.
Also, are you talking 117 GPS or speedometer? There is a difference.
I recently GPS'd 124 mph on a 19 SRX with software only set at 260hp. The only clutch changes was adding weight to stock weights.

Yes, studded. It was about a month ago we had some good snowfall and the road grader had to plow my sideroad two mornings in a row. So right after he cleared the road, I went out. Held it about 1/3 mile or so, I didn't tap the limiter but I must have been close to it.Yup that 1" track on any SRX will net you nice top end numbers, those are great gps numbers Nitro, was sled studded, and what distance and conditions?

I would agree with the TD Powertrail or the Hurricane 240 flashes being the best bang for your buck. Flash and clutch weights should do it.
Any tune above that needs a 3 bar, and Blowoff valve, which isn't a whole lot more in the grand scheme of things, but it is extra.
It also seems like the tunes that run around 270 are more fuel sensitive and harder on belts.

Turbo Dynamics Max Spool 16 stock muffler, you dont need 3 bar map just a clutch kit and a XS 825 belt and your sled will run real strong and be as quiet as stock.
I know all of these tunes and their updates are hard to keep up with, so just to clarify, you now need the 3 bar map sensor for the Max Spool 16.
I had the original version with the 2 bar map which was purchased at the end of 2018 season. I opted to upgrade to the new 3 bar version prior to last years season. It is a cleaner running tune I was told that comes with knock light and boost numbers on your stock pod. Cannot for the life of me, remember if the older 2 bar tune also came with both?

Don't forget this thread is "Best Bang for the Buck" so my choice would be the lower tunes.
For $1000 or so he can get ridiculous power with very little worries & clutching time.
There are hundreds of different clutching set ups as we gain more power. Some are good, some are great, some are just OK. Guess which one to use.
If you want to spend over $2000 and 2 riding seasons figuring the clutching out, then get the higher tunes that can rarely be used.
There's also some Fuel Additive threads here that you also should look into. OH YA........stock up on belts also
AGAIN: "Best Bang for the Buck" does not mean "i need to beat everyone across the lake so what's your opinion?"

Also had the BOV on both.

TD Powertrail or Hurricane 240MS for stock muffler. Add some weight to stock weights via washers . Cheapest 120 mph bang for the buck.

So, has anyone had seat time with both of these flashes? I'm unbiased when it comes to tuners. I'd like the snappiest tune I can get without having to upgrade map sensors and blow off valves.

I got Max Spool 16 at the start of last season i run CAI and turbo smart BOV using stock muffler with 2 bar map it came with knock protect and my boost comes up on my hour meter and this year i installed TD header and Ben told me i still did not have to go to 3 bar map because i would not be over 17 LBS. of boostI know all of these tunes and their updates are hard to keep up with, so just to clarify, you now need the 3 bar map sensor for the Max Spool 16.

Great info here, but at this boost level (16#), you could get by with stock bov. The stock bov can get tired with time/miles and leak, but most dont. With the boost gauge on the dash as JPS metions, you would know if you had a boost leak and could upgrade if/when that happens. However, at about $130 bucks, most guys put turbosmart bov for peace of mind and added insurance.

Yeah I could not remember if my 2 bar Max Spool 16 (First Version)did show the boost numbers on the hour meter of the stock pod. But yeah I now remember my boost numbers at 15.9 - 16.1 with 2 bar version and last season with 3 bar tune numbers were higher, high 16 - mid 17. Thus 3 bar can read higher numbers for more accurate fuel map??
My reason for wanting the newer 3 bar version:
My understanding was that the older version compensated for not being able to read the proper boost at higher levels, by adding extra fuel, whereas the newer 3 bar version does not have to add extra fuel because it can read the higher boost levels.
I could not just add the 3 bar to my old version, I was told that if I wanted to do that I needed the updated tune. So I did!
What kind of hp numbers are expected with that 2 bar Max Spool with the TD Header?
Is it expected to run leaner or richer? And can you use lower octane fuel with it?
