what are you guys running for hand guards? I am looking to keep the fingers warmer and want a set that I dont have to modify but look good to0.

My wife & I use the Yamaha handguards with the new mirrors from Yamaha attached to them. The handguards are an improvement for wind protection and the heaters are working better but the mirrors are much improved over the ones on the cowling (which were useless). They look like Nytro mirrors.

I use the Powermadd ones with the mirrors. So far they seem fine. Do a search here this has been discussed many times

I have the skinz handguards. They work well. What works even better for warm hands - a set of 06 bars with the 07 harness. That is the best combo I have found for warm hands.

I just bought a pair but they dont look like they will fit the brake side ! Any Pics ?

I put some powermadd star series with the mirrors and they work great i had to put the mounting brackets on the bottom rather than the top but they work fine very little vibration and the mirrors serve there purpose sorry i can't seem to figure out how to post a pic of my apex.

I put on Yamahas new wind shear. Did help but not happy going to put on taller windshield. Not much room if you were large bulky gloves. They do look nice on it. Buddy of mine broke his stock plastic one off his new Nytro xtx when he decided to go over the front end of it. Good luck.

New Handguards

I just bought a used 2008 Vector LTX GT. Will not get to ride it till next season but that gives me lots of time to tinker with it. I just put the handguards and mirrors on it. They came as a kit purchased from my Yamaha dealer. Not the cheapest way to go but should help the cold hands I am hearing about.

X2 on the PowerMadd guards with optional mirrors! This is the exact set-up that I have. Make sure that you get the newer design mirrors that have a small screw securing the mirror to the mount rather than the original design that used only double stick tape.

apltx08, I like the Yamaha tuning fork emblems on the back side of the mirrors. Is this a sticker that you put on yourself?

Thanks, Yes, my local guy made them up for a few bucks...

4myride had posted a picture of an apex with the stock yamaha handguards and mirrors attached to it. I think they look nice. Anyone have part numbers on those?

I have the same set up as 4myride, it is a good hand guard and mirror setup.

Unfortunately, not as warm as I would have thought. I had a good test, when do to a bad decision I drove off a drop off and broke off the right hand guard and mirror, (no other damage thankfully) then proceeded to do a 300 mile day. There was not a great difference in warmth one hand to the other with my thin leather gloves. Now the mirror I did miss.

This year I will have Rockmeisters hand warmer kit and the hand guards for warmth, oh yea I broke down and moved up to a mid sized wind
shield.
