Not going to put pistons in. What is the best set up?? Two headgaskets?? Head shim??? What is working? I am going to put ARP studs and nuts in i think that is a must!! What do you guys see that is working? I have two sleds that are down from head gasket leaks! One was a bone stock set up with one stock head gasket, but they reused the stock head nuts.

The other is with two stock gaskets stacked with stock head bolts. Both sleds running 10-14 psi.

Thank you Skydog

You guys spraying the headgaskets with any thing? Or just dry?

I started spraying them with copper coat and let them dry befor putting on, seems to have worked just fine have not had any problems. as far as how many head gaskets, thats for you to decide based on fuel requirements, one gasket will be more responsive if your willing to run the fuel,

I used ultra copper spray , sprayed both sides of the head shim , and both sides of each of the original headgasket halves. (split with the shim in between ). I wouldn't trust it not to leak otherwise.

I put 2-head gaskets with CPR Stud Kit and have raced my sled all summer on the Tar (1/4mi runs), and now a couple times on the Grass with some higher boost. Just did a leak-down on the motor and the motor is between 4% to 6% across all cylinders.

I'd just suggest that the more boost you run the higher the octane fuel you run and/or just make sure you have good fuel.

Yea i know the fuel thing guys just trying to make sure they dont leak. The leaking thing is the problem.

THANK YOU !!!

I'm doing the headshim right now and according to Alpine turbos they use Permatex High tack gasket sealer between the layers. It is a red spray. They've done more than enough turbos so it would have showed up by now if it was the wrong product.

Ive used hylomar gasket sealant. Its the only sealant approved by a few car manufactures to be used on head gaskets.Gonna see how it works.I think permatex makes it now

Ultra copper spray and 2 OEM head gaskets. Three seasons so far with no problems. I will do a leak down soon and let you know how its looking for the 4th season.

i have found the best results using our cpr hd stud kit, set-up to our specs. kit includes studs, nuts, washers and set-up specs. they are in stock and ready to ship. jeff
