Just purchased a brand new 2012 base 128", Apex with power steering. Wonder what modifications you have done to your 2011-2014 eps model sled? Which modifications you liked, or helped, and which were not worth the money. Haven't had an Apex since my 2006 GT, and this thing seems so different.

Looking at your signature, I'm guessing an MCX 270 kit will be in the future.

Ya the dealer called me an F'n liar, being I told him I am leaving this one N/A LOL. I really want to wait and see what Yamaha comes out with next before I put that much money in a toy again. Already did a lot to this one in a short amount of time. Just wondering if some Mod's were not even worth it, or if you have tried a couple things and one worked better then another. From suspension, to power, to Bling?

13mm swaybar, makes the sled handle flat...great for twisty trails.

the best thing you can do is make it 136. I am sure not what you want to hear but my opinion is that skid worked its best at 136. the sled felt so much more balanced at 136. ski doo pilots or sno trackers work great on front. bigger sway bar does keep it a bit flatter but the trade off is the sled handles worse than stock if there are any bumps in the corners with the stiffer sway bar. If you are expecting more power to come from under the hood compared to your old apex you may be disappointed. A well set up stock 07, 08, 09 136 will make you look bad on the lake. the longer the strait the worse you will look with your 2012. I have 2011 xtx and a 2011 Se and my 07 attack smoke the newer ones hands down.

Good to know. I had an 06 GT with a yamacharger and all the goodies to boot. This time I am try to make it a corner to corner sled. Not a lake racer. More or less looking to see what people have done that they liked, or didn't. I'm debating on how far I will go with this one, being I'm waiting to see what the new apex replacement will be. For now I've done the following. Some of which I had on my Nytro I just wrecked. The rest new...
13mm sway bar
153 studs down the middle
2" taller wrp seat
Lower gearing
Ulmer clutch kit with machined sheave
Air box mod
Bender exhaust
PCV mapped by Allen
Lake effect 6" riser and 3" pivot
Excell wheel kit (off of Nytro)
Low snow wheel kit (off of Nytro)
C&A razors with bergstrom triple points (off of Nytro)
I welded and stiffened the tunnel protectors to protect the exhaust
Pioneer rear spring
Tunnel stiffners
Rock's yamaheaters, and power pod
Sledstart HID lights (off of Nytro)
Reusing windshield bag, and rear bag off of old Nytro
Checked and adjusted the exup
Ordered a set of gyt dual clickers off of a guy on here, and have pioneer revalving them to replace the regular ones that came with.
I read a lot on here of what guys were doing to their sleds. Kind of following some of their leads, and talking to Allen Ulmer. Just you see a lot of cross talk between the earlier models, and the newer models on the forums. Asking and reading about modifications is some times like talking to a guy who goes to the casino. You always hear about the good story's but not to much about the others. Think I will be done with this one, unless I don't like some off the things I did for changes. I know I won't know the true sled also till she is broken in better next year. I will get one weekend out of her this year more then likely, then have to wait till next season. It will definitely be interesting to see how the shorty with eps keeps up with the Doo's in our group in the tight and twisties. We have two hopped up 1200 x models, an 800xrs, and a 600 etec x to compete with. The other three are all yamaha guys with older apex or vector models prior to the eps, and exup models. The stance I believe I will be happy with cause I did this before but with a boss seat instead.

Hey Sheetwright, are you coming up to munising this next week for the demo ride? Don't have to come to ride the Vipers, just to hang out with the group.

I will be there with two other yamaha guys, but I also have a yellow with me. So more then likely we will ride as a group then meet up with you guys. Kind of a test and adjust thing for me this weekend. Being I've been on a nytro for so long, and the suspension on this needs to be set for my riding. Hoping my exhaust shows up in time. Other then that all parts are in and on. The guys seem excited about this trip also. Be there Thursday-Sunday

Duponts, HID's, snowtrackers and the biggest windshield I could get!
No real need for anything else except some blue lights on the tunnel like Stiener has.
