2014 Yamaha Apex SE 2017 Yamaha SideWinder LTX LE
Going into 3rd season with my 2014 Apex SE with about 3300 miles and I have had no problems whatsoever! I have had Arctic Cat, Polaris and several Ski- Doo's and they just don't hold up to the reliability of a Yamaha. Now, I hear how everyone talks about how nice riding the r-motion is but I would rather be riding down the trail with my reliable Apex vs riding a Ski-Doo and wondering if it will make it home (I have been stranded on the trails several times with my Ski-Doo). I do have to mention that I did replace my taillight lens on the Apex because the strap broke pulling my sons Ski-Doo and put a little hole in it, but that isn't Yamaha,s fault. As for as the weight goes for the Apex, I don't notice the weight that much, besides all sleds are heavy if you get them stuck. This post was mostly to compliment Yamaha for an amazing job on the build and quality of my Apex SE!!

X 3! To date there has not been a sled built with the track record of an Apex! There is a fun factor with the four holer that is also still not matched. I think if Or when i sell my 12 Turbo to go back to a stocker I would pick up a non current Apex XTX with the single shot skid and just continue to smile! Yes I have riden Viper's and E Tec's! Unless of course YAMAHA builds a sled I want!

Going on my third Apex, this one being the XTX that I have not have the chance to even try e'r out yet as we still don't have enough snow! I personally have owned seven previous Polaris's, have had many "blow ups" with almost all of them, my last one which was an 02 XC 700 was a very quick sled but the PTO bearing packed it in at 8,000 miles then again at 15,000 miles!

agreed many trouble free miles!

trouble free miles but im getting tired of the 7000 mile repair bill: Track replacement...donuts....bushings, shocks needing service, drive bearing, and exup out of asjustment. is it just me or are the apex sleds a lot more work than competitors. I find myself looking at Polaris and skidoo for a new sled. I suppose I shouldn't complain as 7000miles is high and I am not confident a two stroke would be in better shape at that level.

dont think it would and be adding jugs n pistons to your list, they all need " wear item " maintenance and sucks to spend bunch of money at once, but after its done ur happy n good to go, its not so bad anyway, some good bonding time with sled! grab a cob, fire up the garage heat and enjoy:beer:

Probably around 90% of the cost expenditures that you listed are wear items that "all makes of sleds" need replacing, lol! Believe me, I have owned seven Polaris in my time & they were definitely not maintenance free, the last one was a 2002 xc 700, not only did it need replacing track, bearings etc & regular maintenance, on the clutches (Yamahas are waaaaay more reliable) but after 8,000 miles the PTO bearing went on it causing total tear down of the engine, low & behold at 15,000 miles the same thing happened again. This was the end of Polaris for me!

I got into Polaris for a while. Became very fond of the 600HO motor. I rebuilt a half dozen of them. Every single motor was having water impeller failure at 5k miles. Tuned right and there wasn't a "stock" 800 I couldn't hang with up to 90. Yet there always seemed to be a problem! One day the Stator took a crap. The next day the handwarmers quit working. Next, the V.R. took a crap. I sold my last Poo when the dash lights started acting up...Remind you, I replaced every single electrical component and there were still problems.

The entire reason for my purchase of my Apex was reliability. I blew up two separate ski doos and had enough. Just a fact of life that the two strokes need a rebuild at 2000 miles when mountain riding, at least around here it seems that way.

In three seasons, I have changed the oil and the sliders, that's it!

I have hopes for a 4 cylinder updated Yamaha sled, aside from that, I will be on this current machine for some time to come.

On my second Apex first one was 2007 Attak GT now have 2012 Apex XTX with eps both excellent sleds never let me down in 17,000+ miles. Don't miss my doos or poos at all or being on the long end of the tow rope. I'm staying with Yamaha everything else is a step backwards & down.

Still have my 09 Apex ltx but bought a 14 renegade 800 etec to give the rmotion a try. Love the ride of the doo and the weight difference but have had nothing but trouble with the motor. Been in the dealer more times than my last 4 sleds combined.. Will likely get rid of it and buy a new apex next year. I will probably never sell the 09 as it is a great sled and has never let me down!!
