Pulled clutch and now have to put it back on. Cat says torque to 51ftlbs.
How do I hood it in place with out it rotating backwards? I forgot how I did it last time.
Oh and is the bolt a 12 point or etorx.

12 point. if you don’t have a proper clutch holder stick a broom stick through clutch to hold it. Yes do not spin backwards.

If so, might need to let people know.
Torque specs could change....

After torquing clutch dont forget to start it and let it run a few minutes and shut down and retorque to spec. Good to go after that.

I use a crowbar wrapped with duct tape. You may want to retorque a couple times after running it. Mine usually takes a third retorque.

I wouldn't be re-torquing for a third time. I did that once on the Cat TEAM primary and couldn't get the clutch off with a Cat puller. It bent the puller! Go by the manual and just torque it once after the initial torque.

So why a 12 point for this bolt?
Why change to from a six point or the common torx bolt can used.
And 51ftlbs is what cat says the torque should be.....

Why ask why? I remember Cat using 12 point bolts back in the early 90's.
Yes, torque it once, run get engine and do it one more time is what Cat recommends.

Of course.No, its a 1/2" 12 point.
Got it on and the second torque after taking it off had about a 1/16 turn on the bolt. Was kind of surprised.

So this apparatus worked today. I had two redundancies. If the stick broke by my hand it was held in place by the footwell.l, if that broke the strap would have controlled the distance it would have went but still could have slid down the a arm.
