I was reading somewhere on here about a guy that cut the plug off his bosch sensor and wired it to a ntk sensor and it worked, or he bought the plug form a auto parts store and put the ntk plug on his aem guage wiring harness. Is this dooable?? I like my aem gauges, matching boost and o2, but I want to run some leaded gas, maybe 100%. So if I can just modify a plug on the better sensor, I'll do it. Is it a matter of just removing the wires from the plug and reconfiguring them to match the other brand??

who is running what type and what type of fuel, most sensors will work great with normal pump gas and slight octane boost. i am looking to run race fuel which is high in lead and causes the sensors to fail.
just need to know who is running race fuel and what type of system works for them. thanks

I am looking to run straight 110 Senoco, so I want a good sensor that will last. I dont care what it costs, I just want it to work!!!

If you run leaded fuels go with the NTK sensor, they will survive the lead far longer than the Bosch sensors.
If running unleaded fuels the NTK sensors are not worth the cost IMO.
NTK vs Bosch sensors have been debated and tested for years.

Most of the sensors seem to come with the Bosch sensor. I have bought 2 for a Volkswagen which are pretty cheap (40.00 ish) and cut and spliced them onto my original plug from my NGK/NTK widdeband. All the Bosch sensors are the same but the plugs are different for different cars, the sensor you buy must be a 5 wire for the wideband though.

Aem's web site says that the ntk is not calibrated for the unit and wont work. Why, is the Aem not able to recalibrate for another 02 sensor.

The ability to recalibrate is what makes a WBO2 system stay accurate over the life of the sensor, this feature makes the Innovate LC-1 keep it's accuracy over a periode of time as the sensor will degrade with useage. This is according to a lab test done with 8-10 different WBO2 systems.

So I should buy a ntk and try it out? Will the aem just recalibrate to the ntk? I am starting out the season with a rb3 and new turbo set up, so its critical that I have a good o2 system to help me dial it in.

As I understand it the AEM UEGO do not have free air calibration and the UEGO sensors that the AEM uses have been factory calibrated to the controller, but I can be wrong on this.
Here's where to buy:

Here's the AEM UEGO install guide:

Anyone actually running the AEM and the NTK sensor please chime in.

I called aem today they were kind of rude, said our sensor works with race fuel. Well I said I guess you havent followed up on some of your products, and that I may have to toss you crappy gauge in the trash if I can use it with race gas. I cant set up a 40K sled with a new turbo set up and rb3 on a o2 sensor I cant trust. I dont want to pull me sled apart every 3-4 months to replace a bad o2 either. 600$ fjo or a new motor?? I think I am going to go fjo. Anyone interested in a used aem?? Cheap?

Sorry about having bad luck with AEM :-(
Good choise og the FJO, life time warranty and it takes the NTK sensor. I have never heard any negative on the FJO AFR/WBO2 systems.
You can't buy directly from FJO, gotta get it from a reseller.
