Beware of muffler falling apart

if it was just the exhaust i would have done that without taking it to the dealer. But it was exhaust, burnt exterior panels, burnt oil lines, coolant lines, etc.

OUCH! I would ask to speak to the Yamaha field rep, might help.

Stop in the dealer today and he told me to bring it in and they would give me a new one , and mine isn't blown out yet but the cover is loose , plus I don't want it to blow out and melt everything !

My dealer has been awesome! keeping me updated, letting me know when parts show up. Currently they are waiting on the Oil Hose below the muffler, that's it. crossing my fingers for getting it back this week sometime.

I had to wait two weeks for the oil line hose clamp. I just don't want too miss two weeks of good snow next year.

Mine had 1200 miles on it. I had read this thread so I checked as soon as I heard the vibrating. One loose rivot and one missing. Front of the muffler around the center rivot the heat sheild was cracked, and it was getting louder. I rode back because I knew what was happening. One good reason people arent taking pictures is because it is happening underneath the heat shield. Only way to look is take the rivots off for the heat shield, then try to explain to the dealer why you took it off. Not worth the hassle IMO.

Yes about all you can see are the loose rivets on shield and the insulation between shield and shell gets blown out and rusty colored. I personally havent taken a pic because if Yamaha wants a blown out one it needs to be original.

My sled is near finished at the dealer. Yamaha requested all my burnt and broke components back for evaluation. Who knows what they will actually do with them, but maybe sometihng will get solved for the 2015 sleds.

From what I am hearing Yamaha recognizes that there are issues and will address them on a case by case basis, ie no recall or updates planned at this time. They are researching the theory that the issues may be VIN related. I have only a 1 year warranty, guess I have no choice but to purchase an extension. AC actually gave the people that purchased the 2012 Procross a 1 year extension on their warranty based on all the issues. Maybe Yamaha could look at this?????

Why in the world would you not get the extended warranty when you bought it ?? It is ridiculously cheap. I just ordered a 2015 LTX -SE and it comes with the 3 yr warranty for the promotion this spring. But I extended it to a 5 year for only $200.00!!!! NOW THATS A NO BRAINER.

Yes, I guess I screwed up. Did not spring order so I only got 1 year. Not used to needing extended warranty on a Yamaha, but there are too many stories of issues, and the parts are not cheap. Had 4 years on my Apex and never used it. Dealer quoted me more than $200 for one year extension when the year is up.

as many issues that a lot of people are seeing Yamaha should extend it another year. do something !!!

wouldn't that be nice? Seems like we would have already heard about the extension... maybe later this summer they will anounce something.

interesting.. for a 2015 Spring order in Canada i am getting quotes between $700-900 for an additional yr warranty above the 3yr offered on the spring order.
