Blue Dave, there are a few other posts on this subject throughout the site. Normally we axe redundant posts, but obviously in this case, it is no problem having multiple posts on this subject. That said, the General section is definetely the best place as most readers check out the General section upon each visit.
I think this is a set up by people who want to get rid of snowmobiles in that area. I hope the police are smart enough to look at the people who want the trails closed with a close eye. Especially the ones who are calling for the trails to be closed immediatly after this tragedy. No sledder I know would wreck his sled to take down a deer drunk or not. Think about it for a second how much damage is your sled going to take doing something like this. This to me wreaks of a set up to get rid of snowmobiles from that area and to give sledders a bad rap everywhere. Please dont tell me they are not capable of it just look at what greenpeace does. Time will tell but I put my money this was set up to give sledders a black eye. That being said and lets suppose for a second I am right dont hold your breath for someone in that group to blow the whistle.

I certainly would be pleased if it turned out that you are right. However I think that it is a stretch to think that anti-snowmobilers would do something as henoius as this to further their agenda.
I have seen enough young, drunk, and stupid "pimple face punks" on sleds do many things more idiotic than this!
Time will tell and if the reward money continues to grow somebody will turn in the persons resposible for this brutal act. In the event that you are right, perhaps somebody will turn in the people who "set this up" which would be even better!

Our club sent 75.00 (we are a small club) and I myself sent 50.00, I believe these guys wont last through the weekend.

I am also a hunter and I am utterly disgusted about this news. I hope the Game Wardens DO catch them because they will loose their snowmobiles, and their right to hunt for a very long time - Too bad the damage is already done to the sport, and the trail will probably NEVER be opened again.
My guess would be locals, and a few of them are probably NOT riding those snowmobiles right now - the dealership(s) should be on alert for bumpers, hoods, windshields, and other crash parts orders.

The idiot who killed the ducks turned himself in. Supposedly thought the ducks would move when he came roaring across the water.
I hope the lady who owns the land that the trail runs across will allow to ride on her land again. I wouldn't blame her if she didn't.
