Over the weekend on a long field blew a belt, unsure on mileage that was on the belt as I bought the sled used with 2500 miles on it. Put the spare on and limped home. I ordered a new Gates Redline belt and plan to install that when it arrives. My question is, I measured the clutch offset last night and it is at 60mm with no shims behind the secondary. I read one person said they removed the snap ring and that helped get them closer to 57 or 58mm. Is that something you can actually do without any negative implications?
Also, if that is not, does anyone in Buffalo NY area know where I could get a few MM machined off the secondary? I am heading to tug hill next week and was hoping to do this before then, if not I will take my chances until I get back.
Anything else that I could do outside of machine the secondary?

Also, do a little reading on how to lock out float. You need the secondary to stay aligned for those top end pulls.

Make sure your stub shaft hasn’t moved after the blown belt.

You can remove the snap ring if you lock the secondary solid. If you let it float you could have problems with the shaft moving.
You best know how to line up a belt at full shift to get the offset correct. Just trying to "hit a number" may not get it right. Seems like the earlier sleds were fine set around 57.7 or so. The newer machines need to bet set another 1.5 MM further out, but all sleds are not the same.
