See video below. Offset is 60mm. Belt is flush or slightly below secondary. My concern is with how the primary moves the belt over after engagement but before it starts to shift in the secondary. You can really see it at the end of the primary shaft. I believe it's compounded when there's a load. Would this throw off the offset for the entire shift or is this normal? Dalton weights & spring, Dalton b/o 6-1 in secondary. Still chasing hot clutches, dealer is still working on addressing why my clutch is closer to the motor as well. As always, thank you everyone for the help.

I believe when the clutches shift the entire belt moves inwards on both clutches. The inside shieve on the primary and outside shieve on the secondary are both stationary so as the belt rises in the primary it also moves inward.

I understand but on mine the primary moves over once for engagement and then again before the belt even begins to start shifting in the secondary. The second shift over amount appears to be 3/16-1/4 inch when viewed at the end of the primary shaft. So my concern is that if offset or belt parallelism is correct to start, is it way off on my sled when moving because of the additional amount that the primary has to move to even get the sled moving?

Ok I see what you mean. I would say that as long as the clutch has engaged the belt before the second shift you are seeing then it should be fine. Even though it appears as though the primary clutch makes a second shift it looks to me like the belt is also shifting in the secondary. But I could be seeing it wrong.I understand but on mine the primary moves over once for engagement and then again before the belt even begins to start shifting in the secondary. Watched it again and kind of see what you mean. Secondary doesn’t appear to have shifted much in comparison to how much the primary moved the belt laterally.

Engagement seems to be ok. Just seems to me that this could throw alignment way off? Maybe I have the belt set too low in the secondary which causes the extra slack to allow the additional lateral movement. Maybe my c to c being on the low end of the tolerance also plays a part?

Right on. Sorry for being unclear. Lol I'm sometimes good at overcomplicating.Watched it again and kind of see what you mean. Secondary doesn’t appear to have shifted much in comparison to how much the primary moved the belt laterally.

Lol likely more related to my reading comprehension. You might be on to something here though. A couple things that come to mind
1. Would things react differently under load?
2. Would lessening belt deflection prevent this?

Agreed. I mentioned both of those above. I think a load might compound the problem because even more force from the primary required to get moving.Lol likely more related to my reading comprehension. You might be on to something here though. A couple things that come to mind

Yea I see what your saying. Usually that’s due to Center to Center being off some or to long of a belt. Do the eyebal test from the top of the clutches, need to take off the guard to do it. Run it up too around 60~70 on the stand and see if the belt look cocked.

Belt deflection has nothing to do with alignment. As soon as the secondary starts to open the adjustment means nothing.

80° wrap on secondary spring!
No spring in primary.
That is what you typed in original post.
No wonder why the belt isn't moving in the secondary.

Sorry meant 6-1. No such thing as 7-1. Edited OP. Dalton black/bronze primary spring. Changing belt ride height in secondary definitely changes this issue.80° wrap on secondary spring!

So did you try adjusting your deflection and then ran it again on the stand?Sorry meant 6-1. No such thing as 7-1. Edited OP. Dalton black/bronze primary spring. Changing belt ride height in secondary definitely changes this issue.
