I was out this afternoon and my sled backfired, and quit. I tried to start again, and it ran then quit again. I did notice the dash was blank, and there was no headlight. It blew out the large fuse (30amp) under the air box. I changed to the spare, which worked for about ten minutes. Had another, and I made it to the closest road for trailer pick up. So I have a short someplace? Anybody know where to start looking? Thanks for the help! Honk

wire rub
Had the same problem and I was along way out on the trail. Check and follow Grader's instructions. I just wrapped the wire and moved it from the exact spot it was originally resting in.

Hey Guys, I checked out electrical prob today, and cannot find any bare wires. I do see a little rubbing where the bundle go's under frame , and under the tool box. Does anybody have any other ideas of what this could be? I had noticed a while back that when I turned machine off with the kill button, the headlight would stay ON, unless I turn key to off. Sled ran fine today, as I needed to get it off the trailer and into the garage. Did not blow a fuse. Anybody have any answers??? Thanks! Honk

It definitely sounds like an intermittent short (e.g. wires rubbing the frame.) If you see some chaffed wires you need to cover them. Electricity will short via holes that you can not see until it had been going on a long time. But, the fuse will keep blowing before you get a good burn in the wire.
Once you have the wiring around the ECU protected, if it still acts up then you might want to consider looking at all the other places the harness and other loose wires pass in close proximity of metal.
