Hello all,

I had posted this under mountain, but decided it belonged here.

So I am heading up the mountain, and suddenly I have oil all over myself, and my engine. The small 1/2" ish oil inlet hose (item 7 in 5-11 of service manual) from the tank to the front of the engine has split, about 3" long. We towed it back and managed to change it and rode all day.

However, I just cut open the line to see if there was a defect and found this, and it definitely failed at one of these locations.

Is oil line replacement recommended, has this happened to anyone else? Should i be inspecting other lines?

Thanks,
Aaron

I had this happen on my son's Phazer bottom suction hose but at the clamp. Luckily caught it before it went. As an emergency replacement, used heater hose of the same size and it's still holding after two years. Definitely less flimsy then the stock hose.

Yes that is exactly what happened to mine, just a heads up it is a 30 dollar hose so I would replace it to avoid the tow back to the truck, and 2-3 liters of oil generously applied to every part of the front end, oil soaked tools, etc etc.

I put a non-silicone hose on mine. Threaded oil return line now. No issues yet.
