Guys I am new to the turbo world. I did my first start up tonight with the new Ulmer turbo kit. I have a Boost gauge and a AFR gauge. My first question is when you get into the throttle the boost gauge will come up off of zero but it bounces so rapidly between about 1 - 6 pounds of boost you can't almost see the needle it is moving so rapidly. What is the cause and the fix for this? I then unhooked the boost gauge at the intercooler and plugged in a Snap-on Fuel pressure gauge and that worked much more smooth when the throttle was pushed it would build pressure much more smooth on this gauge and was only a little jumpy when you let off and boost was coming down. This of course is all on a Jack stand

Use a Autometer liquid filled 2 5/8 gauge that reads vacuum and boost. Use them on all our installs with great luck. You have a bleed screw to reset at altitude or major temp changes but simple. Shad

I will be installing a MPI turbo, soon I hope. I have got the boost gauge but where do I tap into to read boost. I guess into same line the gems controller taps into but I'd like to now before hand.
Thanks
Thanks

Where is it plumbed into? You want to be behind the throttle bodies. I have the same gauge and its not jumpy like that.

Also you should not see 6lbs of boost on the stand with no load just blipping the throttle. Without a load it will be hard to trust anything the gauge is telling you.

Thanks Kinger! I have it plumed into the side of the intercooler (stock nipple for Ulmer) I did try a liquid gauge and that doesn't jump around, It builds about 2 pounds of boost. I'm glad to hear someone else say it shouldn't build much boost on the jack stand because I was worried I was doing something wrong. I tried adjusting the boost controller with zero results. Hopefully all this will change when I get it on the snow.
