Block Heater Location on an Apex
I got a block heater for my Apex. What is the proper location to put it? Can it go on the hose next to the oil tank?
Thanks in advance.

That seems to be where most people put them. The problem with that location is that the coolant temp sensor is directly above that which will tell the computer that the engine is warm and try to start with a lean condition. The way around that seems to be to unplug the heater approx 1/2 hr before trying to start. Hope that helps.

Great, thanks.
So as long as there is a decent warm up, it should not be an issue?

Open air box lid on cold day and stick the beak of the torch in(not lighted of course - with gas on)
Starts right up!
Always worked, never an issue! But don't go loading the air box up and then trying to fire it up...
Open the lid stick the torch beak in there open the gas and crank right away...it starts right up!
That way I don't have to worry about frozen throttle cables or other issues that water can cause...
We used to use ether in the old days(quick start) - that worked without issue as well.
Propane is not hard on your motor like quick start...

-40C New Years day (morning) at camp. RX would barely turn over. Poured hot water on the head and sled turned over much faster and fired up. Nytro barely turned over....battery is going bad. Jump started Nytro with RX because it was easier. I run Amsoil 0 40. Buddy's wife RX wouldn't start either. Buddy went to his truck to attempt to boost sled and the truck wouldn't turn over either. I brought my battery booster pack to camp for the rest of the week, but didn't have to use it.
Can a brand new sled be still "tight" from not being broken in causing hard to turn over in the cold issues?

I have done the same trick in the past when they won't start but now take a bucket of hot water and use my siphon hose to direct the hot water over the throttle bodies to get her to start.
