I broke one of the arms off of the reverse shift forks trying to get the damn chaincase cover back on. Anyone ever replace one of these or am I going to need to get a complete chaincase cover? Looks like in order to get the shift fork out of of the cover I am going to have to drill out some pins holding the arms onto the shaft they are attached to.

Thanks,

Kevin

Those are spring pins. You just punch them out with something slightly smaller than the hole.

I'm not sure how you would push them out with a punch. The space behind the shaft is shorter than the length of the pin. I tried this last night and the pin bottoms out on the chaincase cover before coming out.

Next time make sure to put the fork into the groove.

Easier said than done. After fighting with it for 2 hours I was ready to take a stick of dynomite to the whole sled.

Did you disconnect the reverse lever when putting the cover back on. There is a nut close to where the arm comes out of the chain case that you can disconnect. I found this makes things 10 times easier.

I'll have to try that once I get it back the replacement arms in. I had just removed the adjustment arm at the top of the chain case. Ordered 2 new arms. There was an updated part number so I am replacing both as well as 2 new spring pins. You have to take both arms off to put a new one on anyway. Still not sure how I am going to get the pins out though.
