BRUCE SCHRADER at Pioneer is my HERO!

I almost had Bruce revalve my shocks, but then I heard that Mike Carver was now working for Yamaha doing their snowcross and cross country suspensions (and other mechanical tuning for snowcross).

My buddies and I started running Mike's customized valve stacks about 10 years ago but I stopped when I bought my first Yamaha. He does the shocks for a lot of snowcross teams has always been known as one of the best at setting up Fox shocks. His setups always provide a firm well controlled ride that are extremely difficult to bottom out.

I'm not positive, but suspect the only Yamaha sleds he has experience with so far are the 07/08 RTX and FX Nytro RTX.

I just thought I'd let you guys know of another option if you're a very aggressive rider and are looking to setup an RTX.

I'll probably get around to rebuilding my shocks in a week or two and I'll let you know how well they work out.

07 apex gt not bottoming out

Is their a difference between 06 and 07 springs on the gt model. I dont have any bottoming out issues on my sled. set to full soft on the ec and never a problem. I weigh around 250 full gear and ride aggressively. just wondering if sled sold in canada were set up different over the us models.

Although neither I nor anyone I ride with have GTs, my understanding is Yamaha/Ohlins came up with substantially different shock valving on the 07 vs 06.

The 07's are probably a lot better than the 06's as far as anti-bottoming control.

I sent my rear shock to Bruce @ Pioneer a month ago, and finally got to ride this last weekend.

He revalved for more compression and rebound dampening.

We also conferred on an aluminium adjusting nut, and I guess mine was the first shock to have one on. It works a ton better than the plastic nut, and was worth the 20 bucks.

I went with the 6.1 spring, and I can not BELIEVE the difference in the machine.
I bottomed out only once my whole ride, and it wasn't the shocks fault, I would have needed 25 inches of travel not to.

The range of adjustability is huge, I can actually get the suspension TOO stiff.
With the addition of the 13mm sway bar, my GT handles like my old 800 Adrenaline, which before spending 10grand, I thought I was getting.

Shame on Yamaha for leaving this handling capability on the table.

Yup, I had met Bruce a couple years ago, as a real good friend of mine has known him for years and insisted I go say Hello to Bruce!!
Seeing as I was visiting the area I stopped in, had a good 45 minute conversation!! Bruce shared some ideas on clutching with me. He really knows his shocks too! Great guy to deal with!!

hey rehm70 how about that 13mm sway bar. was it real noticeable improvement in corners. i only have about 500 miles expereince with my attak but i just cant seem to rail the corners with confidence like i did with my srx

yup Bruce is my hero too , got my 13mm sway bar on tuesday !!! good service and fair prices!!!! CAN'T GO WRONG!!!

NOW IF HE COULD CHANGE THE WARM WEATHER WE ARE GOIN TO GET HE WOULD BE A SUPER HERO!!

It was a bit noticeable, it seemed if I set my control rod for transfer, it would still lift the ski. I think the uncoupling of the rear skid contributes to the ski lift a bit.

Was worth the money, I'd say.

I have an 07, and my sled would bottom if the wind blew hard enough....

Now it's great with Bruce's revalve and the 6.1 spring.

I've bought a fair amount form Pioneer. Bruce will be my hero when he is able to get my lower right wide A-arm I've been waiting on since March. Cant ride my Rx1 till it's replaced. Big time bummer!!!!!, never hit a thing, cought a root with a scag on the trail that bent the bolt and the a-arm. He's been very good in the past, but this has been a problem!

I will be trying out the new shock this w/end. One question I have for the guys who have had this done.

I am not very familiar with playing around with the setting too much, so I asked Bruce to set the shock up for aggresive groomed trail riding . I weigh 250lbs geared up.

Do you guys think that other than the EC settings , I will have to adjust the rings on the shock itself ?

How much does this cost a new shox and re valve from Pioneer....

And how fast is the turn around time???

I live cloes by Pioneer, and Bruce did mine while I waited. Many riders here report very quick turn around. I have an 07 GT with electric Ohlins. I changed from the stock 4.9Lb to the next heavier spring. I think that is the 5.5 Lb. He also changes the washer stack inside the shock, this is called a revavle.I could not get mine to stop bottoming last year, so I changed it out , and it works really well! Much more usable travel with NO hitting the bottom. I go 200lbs, and this change was well worth the money. Total cost was$ 110.00 I had no shipping.

If you dont have the updated seal, get it.. it will keep the shock full of oil longer..

I had lots of problems with the stock shock blowing..
