I just purchased an 06 attak. Upon a very detailed inspection, I noticed a crack where the sway bar mounts through the bulkhead. PO is being great about it; my money back, money to have yammi do it, or money to have me do it. The machine is one owner and in prestine condition. I'm tore up about getting rid of it as I now I can't find a cleaner one once fixed. I have always done my own work, however I've never rebuilt the front of a sled, engines - Yes. I don't trust others working on my stuff.

My question is: Is it easier to remove the entire assembly as a whole or should I try to remove just the faulty left hand side? It appears to be somewhat of an easy job, just lots of stuff to remove. The toughest job appears to be the removal of a few rivets. Some rivets are installed from the inside where it motor is now in the way. Is it acceptable to re-rivet it from the outside? Anybody who has done this job knows what I'm talking about.

Sorry for the long post. Experienced individuals please reply.

The bulkheads are 2 pieces, so you only need to remove 1 side. Lots of labour, but it's only remove and reinstall later. Most rivets are accessible to drill out from outside, otherwise carefully grind the end off and tap thu with a small punch. I replaced all of them from outside. If I remember correctly, I added washers on the inside on a few where a larger head was required. If you're not totally familiar with the steps to do it you can still easily do it in a week-end. I'm sure some have done it in less than a day.

However, you may want to check out the bushings on both sides while you're at it. OEM plastic bushings wear out fairly quickly, so I used Ullmer's bronze replacements for longer life.
