i am going to buy a 2012 nytro xtx and have been doing some reading up on them a little. Some say they need to repalce skis to get them to stop darting some are putting dooly carbides on some are doing other thing.what am i going to have to do to this thing.do they ride good right out of the box or do you have to do some mod to get them to do so need a heads up

They are an awesome sled. The darting issue has gotten better on them. If you don't want to spend to much cash, then a duel set up would work. Right out of the box they are a snappy fun sled to ride. You wont be disappointed. I have a 2011 and added a set of slydog powder hounds, 2 inch track, powder coated the front end and added a fuel caddy from BRP. I absolutely love this sled. My father-in-law is a huge polaris fan and after taking mine for a ride, he couldn't stop talking about how much power it had.

Another good idea is a roll over valve as I have heard stories of them leaking when tipped over. I have never had a problem with mine however.

I have a 2012 xtx and have no darting issue at all. Previous yamy's that I owned were darting on a regular basis. Really pleased with my nytro. Only downside for me is the small fuel tank, but I do a lot of back country so I may go with a trailtank. As gregdec1 said they are an awesome sled.

Do they have the upgraded wheels on the 2012 to stop the hayfax wear???

2010+ has the upgraded wheels with replaceable bearings but they are still the same size. I replaced my wheels with the X wheels when I did my backcountry track upgrade, just because...but if you add scratchers you should be fine. I had 7500 km on my originals when I changed them (again when I did my track) and could have easily gotten the season out of them.

BTW, what part of the Rock are you from? Where will you be riding, if you are on the west coast I'd say you'll be fine.

Nothing ....just ride it and then fix things that you don't like...most like them the way they are some change very little

Ride it first then adjust
