also im new to all this exuast stuff so what is packing? and what doese the packing do?

It is the material inside that muffler that is the sound deading, alot like fiberglass. But I don't recommend using fiberglass because it burns out really fast.

So do you have to worry about this with an aluminum or tatanium pipe?

did you notice a diffrence in sound between yoru rs5 and other rs5 models like in the picture bellow cuz im lookin to grab an rs5 for my phazer btu the 09 ones have a round exit hole instead of the oval so im just curious if it will sound diffrent
Yes you should service your silencer no matter what it's made of. thats why almost all aftermarket motorcycle exhausts are bolted together instead of being welded.(So you can repack them.) The stock muffler is like a automotive one. it's welded so it's not serviceable but built heavy enough to last a long time.
No. The shape shouldn't make a difference in sound. oval or round will sound pretty much the same.

I have Micron cans from an RC-51 on my XTX. Looks cool, but the rubber rings that hols the case together melted out and now they rattle like crazy.. I modified my header to accept twin cans, now I get to start all over again! Anybody with an RS-5 want to sell?

we have two yosh rs3 on our nytros ,too loud for trail imo..one has spark arrester but still seems too loud..company called AR RACING makes an insert they call DB KILLER,havent returned my email yet, dont know how restrictive it is though...
