can the new nytro seat fit an 05 vector

I asked at the show Yamaha told me you can either cut the tank cover down( 55mm is what has to come off) and cover the edge with rubber. or replace with new tank cover.
The other thing I was looking at the rs vector mountain sled it looks like that seat it tall , but goes over the tank instead of under. has anyone seen one of these?

OK, the new parts cataloge are up on Yamaha's site. After running the numbers, it looks like an easy swith to go either way. The attached parts lists shows the component part numbers for the items that need to be changed. It looks like a lot, but the biggest part of it is related to handlebars, but just to swith the seat, all you need is the seat and matching tank cover. The list is broken down by Handlebar Parts, if you chose to swap those as well as the seat, Control Cables, Tank Covers, and Seat.

In my case I would use my existing bars and an aftermarket riser for more adjustability than what Yamaha offers. I'd also use the base model mountain seat to have a better match to the Vector GT 's graphics. And, of course, I'd need the black Nytro tank cover.
For parts pricing, you'll have to contact your dealer

I purchased new nitro er seat to put on my mtn vector , cut 55 mm off , seat pushes on but seems to have to much up lift from stock tank cover creating a larger than normal gap between seat &
cowling below the tank cover.I trimmed a little more, helped a bit but am i just going to have to replace the tank cover to get that factory fit?or do i have keep cutting till it fits? dont want to see the cut edge , would look cheap. i still could cut another 1" off . any help would be appreciated.

I was thinking of using windshield trim to cover the cut edge, because the seat has to go under the cover,The problem with buying a new tank cover is you can only get in black , so far I have not did anything but talk to the yamaha rep about itThat were I got the 55mm number.Do you have any photos of what you got so far?

Well i finished it tonight , fits like a glove, had to cut the tank cover ended up taking 3 1/2" off the center , straight below gas cap. seat just slides under , wish i could show a picture , gotta get a camera.

What did you do to cover the cut edge,Hey if you know any one with a camera see if you can get a photo . this is a mod allot of guys would be intrested in. well hows it feel . did you raise the bars also?

I took the four screws out lifted the cover , used masking tape , cover area well then draw line & used jig saw which worked good. I would start with
3" inches first I ended at 3.5",on outter edges of line ended near the tabs that hold the hood on ,pretty much a straight line.the seat just slides under . I just used a file and rounded the edge it cleaned up nice & should be fine the way it is. looks totally cool, prefer over boss, now sitting on it feels very nice and the transition from sitting to standing just so easy, cant wait till i get her out & spool up some of that love juice. This update is a must for any mountain rider.

forgot to mention added the super cool 6" riser from monsterworks.ca .This makes for a totally
awesome combo just like sour cream on top of
a platter of home made elk burger perogies!

I have a Nytro seat ordered. I will have it tomorrow. The guy that started this mod is 4Fighter. He did it to his RX1. I ordered my seat last week. Make sure you order the right seat. Yamaha has the Rage seats and the Nytro seats listed on the same page. The Nytro seat list for $585. I have the part # if anyone wants it.

4Fighter also has a couple of pics of his sled posted also.
Here is a link to that post on the MOD section http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=24666

Sorry guys, no pics today. UPS put my seat on the wrong truck. #$%&* My dealer wont get it until tomorrow.

OK guys, I picked up the seat a few hours ago and finished the install. Now if I do this right you will see the Pictures.
The measurement is 3 1/2 inches from the botom up in the middle of the cover. I took a pic of the piece I removed and it is about 3 1/4 inches. I used a 3 1/2 inch cut off wheel with a die grinder to make the cut.
I took a total of 6 pictures and these are all downsized quite a bit They wouldnt let me post the full sized photos. This is the first 3.
