I have been told that Acat had a five-year engine supplier agreement with Yamaha in place before Yamaha sled production ceased. As we know Yamaha had been a past supplier of engines in the snowmobile industry. I see no reason they would not continue. If cat stuck the new fancy gauge on the procross Tcat, and built 998 Panteras, they would be popular enough for a few seasons until they could build a wider front clip to put a 998 on the Catalyst chassis. Hopefully by then, the new skid frame they have been working on will be ready. If the Argo rumors are true, Cat should do just fine.

If there was an engine supply agreement in place - there is no reason they couldnt continue the procross. Between mating the new tunnel on the existing bulkhead and updating electronics. May make a good match with a 998.Why couldn't Cat continue the 998 in the Pro Cross Chassis?
The current 998 SW's and Cats are not that inferior [if at all] to any other sled that has a four stroke in it. BNGs, updated shocks, a couple newer track options and they would be good to go! It wasn't that long ago that the Pro Cross was dominant in snow cross and things have not progressed so far to render it obsolete.
If they could still access the 998 from Yamaha, it would be relatively easy for Cat to fire up production again and no one else has the power, looks, power steering, ect.
It could be the "Cat Classic"
But I was watching a Snowtrax episode the other day and chuckling how they just trounce on any oem that hasnt changed or updated something. For instance - the slide action skid. Clearly has been around for awhile and is still used on the new Cat chassis. They were very crtical of it just due to age primarily. God knows ski doo is always changing things, too often changing what works perfectly fine to screw it right up with an upgrade. They are chasing their tail now on a front end that is laclustre trying to keep up with upgrades.

The slide action was tweaked on the newest Cat chassis The front arm is longer I recall reading. If there was an engine supply agreement in place - there is no reason they couldnt continue the procross. I think you are correct. I thought I read the front shock in the catalyst is longer than what is in a tcat or winder. The slide action was tweaked on the newest Cat chassis The front arm is longer I recall reading.

the rear arm needs an update. Hygear has a different rear linkage for the matryx that moves the fulcrum at the front arm to a more progressive setup. Jessiejames on youtube did some testing with a 137 and it seemed to handle the g-outs really well.
I called and asked them if they have one for the procross and they thought it may work but couldn't confirm. A problem with the IQS/ATAC crowd is the hygear linkages would hit the stepper motor.
