2015 SR Viper RTX SE .... I have bent the lower mount on the center shock twice! After bending it the first time, I made a cross shaft out of solid aluminum with bolts threaded in from each end. I did this in order to ride while I waited for shipping on stock replacement parts. I was surprised to find that I bent the solid shaft too!

So now that I have the new stock replacement parts back in the sled, I'm afraid that I will just bend it again. BTW - My brother bent the same mount on his 2014 RTX as well.

I looked up how the LE model mounts the center shock. Unfortunately, the LE model uses the same mounting design for the center shock, and uses the exact same parts. I was at least hoping to find the LE model using something stronger.

Any thoughts? I guessing its a matter of time before I bend it again.

Look closer its the same part but steel in LE. At least it was in 15. If in doubt just order from Cat RR 16 or earlier.

Here are all the part numbers to upgrade to RR parts including center shock lower mount shaft.
Cat Parts
8408-051=Bolts 2 needed
3604-791=Bushing 2 needed
3604-711=Front Arm axle 1 needed
3604-798=Center Shock Axle steel 1 needed

These are what I believe are the equivalent Yamaha Parts
8KN-G7465-00-00 = FRONT ARM AXLE 1 NEEDED
8KN-RA1A0-00-00 = BOLTS 2 NEEDED
8KN-RA805-00-00 = BUSHING 2 NEEDED
8KN-RA729-00-00 = CENTER SHOCK AXLE STEEL 1 NEEDED

Ah - you are right. I looked up the part numbers, but must not have paid enough attention.
SE model = 8JP-RA729-00-00
LE model = 8KN-RA729-00-00

I know the SE part is aluminum. But you are saying the LE part is steel? Might have to get one of those.

Yes steel. I would get all those parts. If you bent the shock mount the tunnel mount is next. Easy to do and direct bolt in for both.

Cannon, will that lower shaft work in an XTX?

Turtle, How is your center shock set up? Factory spring and lock collar position? Do you recall hitting anything extra hard or?

I never checked whether it would fit a XTX. I will do that. I bet it would.

One negative of using the steel shaft is that you have to make sure the through bolt is torqued and often since its steel it will wear into the aluminum slide if not kept up on. Even the Powdercoating can cause loss of torque if it flakes off beneath it.

I'm running a different shock from stock. I have a Fox 1.5 Zero QS3 with a dual rate spring. It's the shock that came stock on the 2017 Sidewinder RTX LE. Much better shock so I guess I'm riding it harder.

I know this is an old post but I have a question. I am upgrading to the parts as listed by Cannondale above.

Will the stock lower bushing in the shock on my 2017 rtx se fit on the new steel shaft or do i need to replace that bushing with something else?

I replaced mine (not bent yet) with the solid one from Barn of Parts. Seems really solid!

Did you reuse the oem bushing or have to replace it to fit the new shaft? What sled was this on?
Old bushing fits BOP shaft, it's sized the same as the original. 2017 SRViper XTX SE
