Hey guys I was searching around the site for info on adjusting the chain in the chain case.
I read the manual and it states that I will need a new exhaust gasket, are you guys getting away with reusing the original?
My wife has the zr 7000 with 1000kms would it be due for a adjustment?
Are you guys seeing allot of stretch when new?
My viper has 260kms so I'm thinking it's fine but I would like to due the maintenance on both at the same time!

I used the same gasket, then had some backfiring issues, so I put on a new gasket and all is now well. Had to turn the tightener about 1 1/2 turns at 500 miles.....

Thanks for the reply!!!
Sound like the chain stretches allot from new!
I will pickup new gaskets for both of them on Monday and do the necessary adjustments!!
thanks again

Buy copper gaskets so you can reuse them.

I'm hoping to find the reusable copper gaskets that Saskattack was mentioning. I'll call my dealer Tuesday and see if they got them or if I can order them!

Yup. Get them in advance. Most dealers don't stock much of this stuff anymore

Muffinworks has the copper gaskets. They are also a site sponsor.

My son has the 2014 SR Viper and he was told that you should be backing the chain lightener bolt off 1 to 1& 1/2 turns even though the manual may say 1/4 turn? I know that on all previous Yamaha sleds it was 1/4 turn but on this Yama/Cat it should be 1 to 1&1/2.

loosen 1 1/2 turns per my maual. I did exactly that and had no issues or chain whine.
