Anyone have any tips on removing the chain case off my 07 RTX w/reverse. I will say Yamaha seems to have the most complex chain cases. I have removed many cases before and have never seen so many different parts. Not sure if there is a post describing the procedure, but any tips would be great. Thanks in advance.

Check the "sticky" section under Apex FAQ there is a procedure with pictures for doing a gear change. This will get you inside the gearbox and back out successfully.

removing chaincase is very simple worse thing is the nut that holds on the upper sprocket..Other than that it is very straight forward.. Pull off caliper firts..then hand brake caliper...Then take off snap ring spacer and shim then rotor comes off ...There is a spacer up on top shaft that has a setscrew in it..Remove that ...let reverse lever go from the pivot on the chaincase.. undo the 5 bolts then pull the cover off...Once inside very simple...

Yea it looks bad, but really not. Just dig in and you will be fine. Follow the stickies in the tech sections on this.

Besides the sticky post, what I got that helped me the most was having the parts diagram printed out. There are two diagrams that I can remember. One for the case and the other for the brake. Remember also if you get stumped just come post on here.

When you're ready to remove the guts thake the gear sets out whole and run a zip-tie or wire through them as you take them off. This will save alot of headache trying to remember what order they were in.

It very easy, first sled i own and have pick it apart many times for gearing. Take little picture with sell phone as you go. Look at the little spring between little reverse gear and the washer when taking of chain case lock. Pull chain case of a little, then turn it counter clock wise and pull it ut. The nut that hold top sprocket drive can sit much. take a friend and let him hold secundary as you take it losse. 90nm when instal it back

Its not that hard to do but I do agree with the OP. It is much more complex than any poo I have done in the past. I could change a track on a poo xc quicker with less parts removed than taking the chaincase apart on my ape.. Its not hard, its just complex compared to the other sleds out there IMO..
