Does the top gear float on the jackshaft? I have a bit of a gap between the 36mm nut and washer.

No. It should be tight. The nut won't go any farther??

No thats it. If I adjust the jackshaft so the washer touches the top gear, then the woodruff key for the brake rotor wont fit.

And that's how it was when you pulled it apart?? No other washers??

Happen to have mine apart and the washer and nut are tight against the top gear:

I just had the chaincase apart on my 08 Vector and I'm 99% positive the top gear wasn't floating.

Im missing a spacer between the bearing and top gear ffs. No idea where it went too. I hope Yamaha can ship parts ASAP!!!

Its being rush shipped. I wasn't sure which collar so I ordered both lol. Im positive its the one right behind the top gear. Add some more random parts to the parts bucket!!! lol

Anyone know much about top gears? I have a 21 tooth gear. I heard the vector has a 22. An Apex has a 24. Could the 973cc pull the Nytro up to a faster top speed with a 24 tooth top gear?

It'll pull it, you'll lose bottom end power. And you'll need a longer chain also to jump 2 teeth.

A stock Vector is over geared, and the RS Nytro was under geared. If you look in the TY tech pages you can find the factory gearing specs, pick a ratio in the middle that’s gonna work with your stock chain and enjoy better fuel mileage with a little more top end. Note: you may need to tweak your clutching a little bit.
