Chain size for 39/22 gears

I wonder how much slack though?

I just posted a ton pics in my build thread... from today's tear down.

I pulled my 22 gear, went back to stocker 21......and notice after 1450 miles, my chain stretched alot, and my adjuster bolt only has 5 threads left max.....So you might be even worse with that combo i would think.

I guess we can cut down that alum spacer if need be....The larger cat gears seem to fit with the chain adjuster bolt better.

Stock from the factory my chain adjuster bolt had 6 turns/threads showing.
After initial chain stretch which occurred between the 500 and 1100 mile chain case inspection/ split cases, there were only 3 turns left.

With 22 top gear that was installed toward the end of last season, the adjuster had 7 to 8 threads showing and the chain looked much better to me with that slighter angle.

What I learned during these inspections:
Chain adjustment = Finger tight and then 1/2 turn out, Not 1 full turn out as stated in manual.
If broken in as stated in manual, “very easy per their instructions” you shall see no chain stretch.
Chain stretch will occur quickly thereafter once you start using the sled normal, and the chain will rub on inner case nub and cause lot’s of aluminum grinds in the case.

I think they want 1-1/2 out in manual(way too much) so most of us go down to 1 turn out.

Great I just put in my exhaust yesterday, checked the chain tensioner (new sled) and it was about 2 turns out so I went finger tight and 1.5 turns out. I will see if I can somehow adjust it without removing the muffler. I do want to Rivnut my lower panel so that should make it easier.

it will be fine there....The stock spring on the tensioner keeps tension, then there is some space to where it hits tensioner. Even with 1 turn out, it seems too much compared to old days. But I went with it.
