Were you 1 3/4 turns out or just 1/2?
Been busy and haven't checked in here in about a week. I ran it an extra 1/4 turn out so 1 3/4 total. I have been adjusting the tension every 600mi or so to try to keep it in the sweet spot. My buddy had a 14 viper and had issues when it was brand new due to the error in the manual on chain tension. He's got a tuned Sidewinder now and the top gear grenaded his case with around 2500mi on the first ride last season. Luckily a member from here was in the UP at the time and had some top gears he had replaced the bushings in that he sold us so it was only down about 36 hours. All my parts came in yesterday from Port Yamaha so it's time to get it all put back together.
For the lower chaincase bearing, I bought the exact same NTN bearing that MrSled posted in the "Busted Chaincase!!" thread, part numbers are an exact match. When I opened the box it is a sealed bearing as opposed to the non sealed factory bearing. Just want to make sure this is correct before I install it. Don't want to run into an issue out on the trail and have a trip ruined.
Thanks

Or could leave inner one in. It’s same bearing.

I checked my chain deflection with the cover off and found that anything over one turn out left the chain pretty slack. I ended up with the tensioner bolt at 3/4 of a turn out. That gave me about a 1/2 inch of chain deflection. Any looser and it would touch on a spot on the case.

Seals could be left in, it keeps the metal filings out.

Is it common in the upper chain case wobble bearing to have a decent amount of wobble? I had a factory Yamaha bearing I had ordered last year that I ended up using since USPS doesn’t know where the FAG bearing is that I ordered. I got all the new bearings installed and the upper chain case bearing concerns me a little. Installed it in proper orientation with the taper correct. Cant figure out how to upload the video I took of it otherwise I’d post it. It’s the balls on the inside that are a little loose seeming to me. When spinning the jack shaft I can hear them and I can also move them around a little with a small screwdriver. Maybe this is normal? Any input is appreciated
