I had the ice attack on my cat turbo but changed it out last month for the ice cobra. Having ridden both this winter i much prefer the ice cobra. I was concerned with it having less pics-studs but it hooks up much better and where the ice attack would break free on a fast corner the cobra feels sticks. I'm likely ordering an ltx-le and have it installed as part of the yammi cash. $17800 + tax canadian with all the other extras is what I've been quoted fyi
What other extras were you thinking of getting for the $17,800 plus tax total? I am located in Ontario and going to try and get some quotes this weekend, I also love the 1.6" ice cobra track!

One more thing I always like to say about my past 2 sleds with Ice Attak 1.22'' track. The thing I hated about traditional studs is when road running they tend to round off fairly quickly. So after half a season(1500 miles or so) I would always notice my gold diggers were rounded off, still in great shape but no longer pointy. So on ICE they would spin alot.
This is where I absolutely think the pre-studded tracks shine...These little studs Self-Sharpen. The shape lets the outer area wear away and keep revealing LIKE NEW sharpness carbide. So even after 5000 MILES my studs on the ice attak were pointy to the touch!
So, when guys say the ice attak does not hookup on icy surfaces like traditional studs.....I would say, after 1500 miles when the traditional studs round off, they now are WORSE then the pre-studs which remain in a pointy state, like day one.

Is it possible that the little studs are still sharp , because they really aren't digging in as much , as traditional studs ?One more thing I always like to say about my past 2 sleds with Ice Attak 1.22'' track. I have the ice attack on a lighter less powerful sled , and for that application they seem ok/fine .
For all that torque , and 200 + HORESPOWER , of the SIDEWINDER , or should I say MR. SIDEWINDER , I think you need more .
I think you can get the 1.6 ice Cobra , and add 2, 1.625 studs to each section , and have the best of both worlds .

Doesn't matter. The whole purpose of running these ice-ripper type tracks is to AVOID studs & their PITA faults. GREAT story here boys to prove my point. We're up in Canada as i write this on back pack trip & buds' Doo just through a stud through exchanger. Day is gone & maybe whole trip cuz track torn. PERFECT trails this morning. 10 days off work. $2000 cash in my pocket. Smoked his #*$&@ on lake & 1 'effin stud wrecked everything! He is now putting ice-ripper on! Oh BTW...$1000 cash for exchanger install to get us home...like i said earlier "I will run ice-rippe on every sled i ever own forever"...If you look at the stud charts for the 1.6 cobra , they are only recommending a, I believe , a 1.625 stud .
Which makes those almost, if not identical to ,the height of the ice Cobra studs .

Well I was interested in the Ice Attack XT track, but it is only 1 ply? I have heard that 1 ply tracks are weak and 'junk'. Now I am wondering if it's better to just stick with the stock RipSaw II 2 ply that comes on the sled. Anyone with the Ice Attack have any issues with it only being 1 ply?

Only thing i would be concerned with is ballooning at big speeds, as I touched on earlier above.
The single ply does balloon more, and I have not run one over 113 or so on my etec....I know you need to run them tighter then normal 2 ply tracks....I would like to see what camo rates them at safely, for top speed.

I shot a quick email of to Camoplast this morning regarding some of our concerns with top speed testing of tracks and ballooning and will post my response back from them if i get one.

I spoke to them at the Toronto Show in October and told them I wanted to put the Ice cobra on my Cat Turbo. They said it wouldn't be their choice but to put the new Ripsaw 11 1.5 and stud it.I shot a quick email of to Camoplast this morning regarding some of our concerns with top speed testing of tracks and ballooning and will post my response back from them if i get one.
I still put it on and as noted very happy with it after 800 miles.

Our Ice series tracks have no speed rating but these tracks can handle high horse power sleds. I have one on my apex and Skidoo runs them on their 800 Etec. I would recommend the Ice Attak XT for you as this is the most aggressive trail ice series track we have. The stiffer profiles allows the studs to penetrate better because they don’t fold over. The part number of this track is 9191H.

They need a little taller lug like 1.35 in the ice attack line.

They have an Ice Ripper in a 1 3/8 but it is a ripsaw based design. Which I do not like

I think I'm still going to go with the 1.6" ice cobra! I love that track. Have 5500km on my viper and that track still looks new.
