Today I was getting a clunking sound (sounds like in the chain case) while I would apply the brake or under acceleration from take off. Acceleration from 40 mph on was fine. This was after some very rough trails. I got thinking of everything I did recently. Put a new drive shaft in with extros so I had the chain case and gears apart. Blew a belt the other day so I was worried I might not have put everything back together right. I chalked it up to an old belt. It had either 7000 or 9000 miles on it. I have about 4000 miles on this year with no issues. My dad pointed out that it did not make the noise until after I lost my left rear idler wheel today. Before I tear everything apart again I was wondering if uneven track pressure from the rear idler wheel missing could make the sled act like this. Thanks for any insight that might be offered.

Track Ratcheting? Try tightening the track and see if it goes away. That would be my 1st guess.

The wheel might be jammed up there somewhere

I think you might be right. I lifted it this morning and the tensioner nuts backed out and there was 4 inches of hanging track. I am going to get a new wheel and tighten it up and see if that cures it. Thanks.Track Ratcheting? Try tightening the track and see if it goes away. That would be my 1st guess.
