I have 6000 miles on my RTX. I've been averaging 14 MPG forever. Last week I installed a Schmidt comfort clutch kit. Over the next 550 miles I averaged over 16 MPG. On one stretch I averaged 20 MPG. I didn't buy the kit for improved mileage but it sure looks like its turning out that way.

efficient clutching can do that sometimes
Notice this with my attak but not my nytro with Ulmer clutching on both.

what was your reason for installing the comfort clutch? was considering this one also, to get a smoother accelleration from start-off. Or is there a better animal out there? Thx.

I run the comfort clutch kit to, I really didnt track fuel mileage on my trip so I cant comment on that. However I can comment on some riding that we did on one sled width wide very technical terrain(lots of short up and down hills very very tight and twisty trails) The sled was like a diesel truck in 4 low it was nice you could just get the clutch engaged and hold steady throttle and crawl through it. Nice low engagement, the other guys in the group were complaining about jumpiness and you could just smell the belts a burning

hey jp111,
that is one reason I am considering the comfort clutch, to try and get rid of the jumpiness or jerkiness as I called it. do you run that on an xtx?My local yamaha dealer is suggesting manufacturers lime Commet Clutch Kits or Heelclicker Clutch Kits. Anyone comment on these?

All Schmidt bros kits lower engagement it just depends on what you want out of your kit and how much you want to pay go on chris's website and its all pretty self explanitory figure out what you want and give him a call i got his stage 2 and love the low engagement and the pull it has. My sled produces more power than he expected and didnt have enough weight in the tip i called him up and he sent me 2 different weight (heavyer) nuts at free of charge. Great customer service.

Clutch
I went with the comfort kit because the higher engagement was a pain in tighter trails or when manuvering in close quarters. It certainly didn't hurt acceleration. I smoke my buddie's stock RTX. It even makes backing up easier.
