Clutch kits for RX-1/Apex GT.

Ulmer Racing will likely have 3 different stages of clutching. Stage 1 being the cheapest option while still an improvement over stock and Stage 3 being the most expensive. Look for sometime in early November for complete kits to be finished.

Jeff has a nice Kit. Matt from "THESPEEDSHOP" will do an excellent Job testing it to make sure it's right on the mark. Matt sells top quaility products.

Allen Ulmer "srxspec" Is a professional Racer. He and his Father have Created Ulmer Racing and they to build awesome Kits. They use a track dyno combined with real world testing to design a kit.

All three have built solid reputations and deserve to be considered the leaders in Yamaha cluthing!!!!!!

Yup and i will build my owne, out of my supertips, love uumm they work like HH but every thing is side loaded, and you can load them up to 42 grams and use stock springs, unlike heelclickers.. :drink:

Hey matt or bby i see you were using 60 base supertips in your 03 turbo, how did you like them,i have two sets one in my fusion and it is 60 base and one in my boys prox7 55 base, they seem to work better in his prox7 than my confusion, what i was wondering was if you think they would be worth keeping for my new attak,i can get inserts to fit them to the yammi clutch or trade them in on a pair for the yammi,at least mark told me last summer when i got them he would take them in on trade,i do like how adjustable they are, what do you think.. ;)!

Definetly keep them. I really liked them in my Turbo sled. They tune differently than a HH. I found I couldnt run as much total weight as I could with Heavy Hitters. The profile of the ST is very similar to the HH but holes #2 and #3 are closer together on the ST. I also found I really needed to load the heel to keep engagement RPMs as low as HH. I ran the 7 gram tungsten in the heel, 2 grams in middle hole and 4 grams in the tip. Low boost RPM was 10100, high was 10600. Total weight was 73 grams vs 76-78 grams in the HH. What I liked about the 60 gram STs is the width of the weight in relation to where they meet the roller. They are nice and wide and in my estimation will provide longer roller life than some of the thinner weights out there. At the time, Fett Bros. had not released the new HH that does have a wider profile so I decided to use the STs. I know several guys who have used the 60 G HH and had very good results. If you dont have a blower or turbo, the 60 g STs are too heavy for stock sleds. You need to run the 50s or 40s and tune from there. On stockers when comparing 50g base weights, the same is true with regards to engine RPM. You can not run as much weight in the ST as the HH (same secondary settings). HHs end up between 60-63 grams depending on rider weight, track profile...etc whereas STs end up 3-6 grams less.

Sorry for the novel, but to summarize, if you are going to run 60s in your RX-1 or apex, my feeling is you wont be able to pull enough RPM unless you address your secondary settings (helix) and I prefer tuning RPM with my primary clutch, not secondary...BBY

Matt, do you know the weight of the stock weights in the Apex/Attak? My understanding is they will be heavier then the RX-1 stockers, but don't know how much..

No, sorry I dont have any idea what they will weigh. I do know Yamaha told us the weights will be more tuneable than any weight they have made. Id guess tunable in the heel, middle and tip like the aftermarket weights but the only downside is they are still using rivets and when your on a lake tuning, the rivets are a PAIN to deal with compared to a bolt, allen head or torx screws...BBY

Great novel Matt lol yes i have both base sets,my boy has the 50s in his prox7 at 64 grms, and it pulls hard, and with the fusion i had to load the heeh with both tungsten weights,7 per side but the screws and rubber o rings do weigh some and when i load both tungstens on heel along on a 60 base it weighs in at 75.5 or so,i still have beam scales lol but they work so good why get rid of them, and i have used some of the newer digital scales, but now after being used for a couple of years they are wacked out,and read 7 grms. heavy,so the old stand buy are being used for now.. I do need to know if you have used or have some inserts for the ST that fit poo weights to yamaha pins,i thought i saw on marks site that he had a kit to retrofit to yammi clutchs..thanks Pete ;)!

we have a extensive development program scheduled for the new apex. we will have our apex sometime early may. we will be doing alot of testing on the engine dyno, then work on the clutching with the track dyno, and improve it on the asphalt at union grove throughout the summer, every clutch set-up that has been done this way in the past has worked great in snow conditions, its amazing how close they are. we will be using whatever weights work the best, we are distributors for both weight manufactures and are not partial to either. jeff

The Ulmer Racing kit will consist of Super Tip weights and an Advant-edge helix as it's main components. Also owners who bought a RX-1/Warrior kit will be able to upgrade their kit to the Apex specs as well.
