Clutch maintenance how-to

You did it right. Now replace the circlip. The circlips lose their springyness and get deformed.
Remember, your wrist is just above that secondary.

Thank, once i get the new clip I will take a vid. Very good point in bold, I like my wrist. I was not able to find a new clip at the store, I guess I need to get it from the dealer then.

i have taken mine off about 7 times,, i always us snap ring pliers..still am using the original clip.. if you pryed it off with a screw driver.. i would replace it.. if you took it of with snap ring pliers and did not mangle it, i wouldnt worry about it..

also you can pull 1 of the spacer washers out from between the 2ndary sheaves, the belt will sit higher on the 2ndary and give some more snap off the line..

I had to use a screw driver so il be replacing mine.

If the belt it higher will it not affect the reverse?

i took both the spacers out, reverse did not work with out a ton of effort.. it would not enguage.. taking 1 out it works fine, on a brand new belt it might b an issue, but all my belts are broken in. my back up belt has 500mi on it.. i dont like the idea of having to put a brand new belt on.. so i break in my spare.. i have no issues with the 1 spacer removed..

How high should it sit. I have about 3000 km's on this belt and it is sitting exactly flush with the top of the secondary.

the deepest part of the grooves that are on the top of the belt are visable.. if that makes any sense.. it was deff a noticable snap when pinned from a dead stop..

Replace that clip fellas. Mine broke and tore up the helix and ramp slides.
Had you removed yours using snapring pliers or did you just pry it off with a screwdriver or something?
thanks,

I know on the smaller ones you are to replace them each time never be reused (I always push mine in a bit to make it the original size). Most item that bend and hold stuff in place like snap rings are to be replaced each time.

anyone have a source - not OEM to get 10 packs or something? Easy, cheap, functional? I have no dealer within 50 miles (actually 200 for a sled dealer)
