Found one of the 3 o rings from primary clutch update on drivers foot well. And clutch started making some noise again. Has anyone made a spacer washer for primary clutch weight arm pivot shaft/bolt. Needs to be a 9MM washer and very thin. What would be the best thing to make this from Teflon, rubber, brass, etc. The rubber o ring in the clutch update kit is too wide and all three are ripped.

can you show a picture of the washer and exactly were it goes.I have a 08 vector ltx.It rattles worse than my 05 did with 6000 miles on it.I would like to come up with a fix for it myself at least try to quiet it down.

I have installed 3 ea shims on mine venture 07 and so far it seems to be working very well. The shims has Yamaha PN PN 8BW-17654-20
On the technical bulletin dated 5/9/05 # S2005-007 they show the o-rings in a different spot than where I think my dealer put the o-rings that came in the kit. It is possible that they used another 3 o-rings. But like I said they are badly ripped/torn in 10 miles. The clutch was so quiet I could not believe it was the same snowmobile. My thought is all this noise comes from the 3 primary clutch finger pivot shaft/bolts. I will try to take a picture and post in the next couple of days. I know a picture is worth a thousand words. But I always seem to have a hard time down loading pictures.

My 07 Rage GT clutch started rattling after a couple hundred miles. It seems to quite down after the sled warms up. Does this sound right? G.B.

08 vector LTX clutch rattle
are you tired of hearing from yamaha dealers that the clutch rattle is the nature of the beast. well i am. my 08 vector has 2500 miles on it and it sounds like a bunch of bolts rattling around. this can not be good for the clutch. what can i do to stop the insane noise? other than that i love the sled and the 20 miles plus on mileage. any help or ideas ?

Guess what Its not the clutch thats making noise. how do i know? I removed it and it still made the same noise! I even put the clutch from my wife"s 99 v max 600,still the same noise. Sounds to me like a valve train or gears rattling. What the ^%#.

WOuld this be your exhaust donuts that are shut ? .. more so Gone Blue, since when the exhaust line is cold the noise from a slack coupling is apparent but quiet down when warm... that's an early donut warning.
As for the o-ring kit this must be matched with the slider kit. The spider must be deassembled to place that in. Personnally i prefer the shim kit job as it last as long as a o-ring job. Trouble is, these shims are too thick & i need a job before the the shim fit in... so use a piece of beer/soda can, whatever is tight in the meanwhile.
As for the whatever can be placed to remove the sideplay around the clutch weight then i made once extra spacers out of ring book cover..?? plastic it is.., still a bit too thick but few run on a 200 sand paper over the table made it. Extra care must be used to not overpack the thing & keep freeplay in the system.
And yes... the noise will be back, but it all goes thru one of my season.

Each year, I remove the primary and have the dealer install new spacers. I can't stand the noise either so, I am willing to spend the money for the fix. The spacers only last about a season. MiKe-05 Vector, Eden, Vt.
