the dealer just called and said that 9800 shifting up 10100 is ok and there is nothing he can do the sled has 2100 miles with the stock clutch back in 10100 to 10200 MAX is all I can get out of it. I know that buy pulling weights out of the tip I can bring the rpms up BUT!!! am i covering up a problem with the primary. I instaled a freinds stock clutch and wamo the rpms are 10500 to 10700 . Ulmer says that sled should tach out around 10500 to 10700 STOCK. I would like to call Yamaha on this when the buck stops at the dealer where do we go.Any body have a phone # to Yamaha's customer service.

So you have tried a STOCK STOCK clutch of your friends? Did you put your STOCK STOCK clutch on his sled at the same time? This should narrow down your problem.

Sportfury used my clutch 2 weekends ago for a comparison. He was told that if my primary helps him tach out that the problem was with his primary. ours sleds are identical even the weight of us. To me it is easy to see. my stock primary on his sled gets him the rpms he needs. Do you think the tolerances on his primary are running on the tighter side? When I look at the rollers that ride on the tips, couple of them are not riding flat on them. I think its a couple of things making it a problem.

There you go, he needs a new primary. End of discussion, go insist that the dealer help you, that's what they are there for.

Sportfury,

You might want to try unbolting your primary clutch cover, taking out your primary spring and see if your clutch weights are sticking. I've had this happen. You can use a drill bit and a small, round wire brush to clean out the bushings if they get stuck on the pins. I've had this happen. You can also replace the bushings.

There was a post about an early and late clutch release for 06. I can't find the post but I will keep looking. It said there was a stamp on it you could check.

POB88,

Thanks for the info. I actually do remember that post. I did check mine and it was the updated one.

Sportfury,

Don't go near those bushings with a drill bit. clean them with solvent.NO OIL.
