Replace the stock spring first.
Probably not up to snuff anymore.

Get an Orange/Silver/Orange spring you'll love it. I even use a couple of spring shims to increase the engagement and total force.
I also use a silver spring in secondary and at 80 degrees it works great!

where did you get the spring and the shims from and how do you set the secondary to 80 degrees?

A lot of clutching is personal preference and what type of riding you like to do, however most guys that I have talked to that have 03 or 04 rx1's in the mountains are going to the 05 clutch setup. Which I believe that as Frosty said is a OSO spring and 80 on the secondary with the silver spring. I think it also includes the 8bu10 weights and 14mm rollers. To get 80 on the secondary I think you go with the spring in the 6 and 2 positions and wrap the spring until the bolt holes align. All of the parts are available at your local dealer and if your not confident they should be able to help you get it set up. On my 04 I ran that set up pre-boost and I was getting 10200 rpm and felt like the machine was running close to optimum.
Good Luck.

Yes, you can go to your dealer or google "Yamaha clutch spring chart" and there is a totallyamaha link that shows all the clutch springs and Yamaha part numbers.
The O/S/O and silver springs will breathe new life into you sled.

when i give it full throttle, it slowly climbs in rpm then it pulls hard to 10500rpm. my machine only has 400 miles on it. is there a way to climb quicker?

The 03 weights were way too heavy to work at elevation. I rode at 6-8000 ft and it was a pig so I ground off 10 grams off each weight to get them down to 59 grams each and it was a world of difference , but since you are at a much lower elvation it might not work for you.

Yes, the stock clutch weights aren't so hot. Heavy Hitters worked well for me but others say Super Tips are even better. I tried some Dalton weights too. They helped on the bottom end but they weren't so hot on the top end for my application.
The 89L, 8DN-10, 8BU-10, etc seem to work better.
