I'm slipping the belt on topend. How do I get more bite on top end? Very close to my goal of 130 in 1320 on pump gas. I think if I can solve this slip it'll put me over the top. Running an 8JP.

Thanks in advance.

You probably want to put your current setup so others can help. That said I see it in the other post and I'm guessing others smarter than me are going to say to wrap the secondary more. I ran my B/O at 80 and now at 90 it is pulling better. No gun to prove it other than racing other sleds.

Ya I'm kinda figuring that. I can't load the tips of the DTYA2s any more.

DTYA2s @ 85.29 grams
Dalton black bronze

Dalton black orange at 70 gen1
35 helix
8jp

Thanks

rearrange the weight towards tip if you have adjustable weights

Maybe you need the drill press scale Knapp-style.
What about going back to the Yamaha secondary spring.
Or XS825

I have tried the stock yellow spring and went backwards (with 8jp). I picked up an XS825 and will break it in easy this weekend. I realize I'll need to go down weight. Do you think the xs will help with the slip up top?

They seem to grip well. I just swapped to one on a stock 18 and it brought the revs down a little.

Don’t me to hack this thread but I been running 8jp belt going to try the xs825. I am wrapped 3/3 with reverse helix and orange sec spring. I do hit the rev limiter on occasion. With the XS belt should I leave it at 3/3 ?

Have you taken apart the secondary to look at the inside of it? You are not slipping on the topped in the primary, it's the secondary you are worried about. Let's see the pictures of that.

Ok will do that later. Do the marks on the top of the primary sheave not indicate slippage?

No, If it was slipping it would be polished up or blackened. The belt will never slip at the top of the primary clutch. You could see some blackening up there but more from letting off and belt transfer from the secondary releasing from the belt. All you are seeing at the top of that clutch is where the cord of the belts are running at full shift which is typical.

Ok Mike here's my sheaves untouched after probably 15 1/4 mile passes.
