"Clutching on the Cheap" misinformation

Allen I hope you're getting overtime for this lol
At least all this explains why when I got my Viper it felt like it had a 2 stroke clutch, lots of RPM at slower speeds but no loading of the motor. Hated it in slower trails, especially coming off an Apex. Allen's kit fixed that feel.

Yes that is what I am saying about the stock clutch. And no matter what you read here there is more than one way to set up a clutch.;)!

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. In April when I asked NOS-PRO for some advice on his clutch setup, he also recommended the Ulmer Racing kit if I preferred to use an aftermarket clutch.

You guys need to give it a rest. Doesn't matter what came in stock sled since ever since yamaha started making sleds clutches have been tuned for personal taste. Heck if all I did was ride the tight woods trails I rode first 1000 mi I would probably be happy stock. Couple days ago I saw a absolutely stock 07 Phazer. Nothing touched. It had 6000mi on it. Now mine I broke very single weekend first two seasons. Suspension. If you asked me I would say updates are mandatory. I would be wrong. That sled with no updates is proof. Owner is in love with his sled. I would not want him to lose that.
Just goes to show what suits one does not always suit other. Best is to collect all the info just in case you are in need. Because sometimes you may need a combination of solutions. It's hard not to take things personally especially after working so hard to accomplish a goal but we all have to remember others goals may be different and that is ok as long as they are happy.

Everyone has the option to do what they want and order what they want. By the PM messages and phone calls I have received, there is more confusion and misinformation going on than many think. This is what I was trying to straighten out. I spend more time on the phone with technical information (for both products I've sold and many times for product that wasn't even mine or just a general Yamaha product, just the person was trying to get it to run better) than anyone could ever take a guess at. Clutching is a thing I'm very passionate about and have spent a large amount of time learning and trying new things. With the two of us in the shop (my father and myself) we have 45+ years of clutch tuning experience, from the highest form of drag racing (Yamaha Factory Supported) to the simplest of trail riding and mountain riding. Again, order what you want, but do some research on what's all out there and technical support after the sale (value added support) as well.

I understand and your passion for our Yamahas is why I bought my clutch kits from you. I knew I could work with it to do whatever I wanted. I think the problem as far as confusion is due to the fact that the viper line is a line of many models that are very different in performance in many ways. It would really help here at TY if everyone remembered to be specific with there info and remember its not just Viper and Mtn but each model plus Turbo and modified. I think this is new ground and the differences are greater than what we are used to. I cant imagine trying to make everyone happy but obviously you try. What more can anyone ask for?

I have a 08 Nytro FX with a 136 1.5 paddle. I plan to buy a clutch kit and have both clutches machined. Just debating who I send it to and where I should buy from. Will these clutch kits stop that notorious clutch rattle? I see some clutch kits are priced the same from diff vendors but some will have more parts or more expensive parts all for same price. I am used to $200 dollar clutch kits but first 4 stroke and kinda shocked kits are now $400-$500 for the ones I want. I don't want to steady tune weight rivets.
Tune it and leave it kinda guy.
Thanks for any help

I'd would certainly suggest you start by giving Allen a call @ Ulmer Racing (605-387-2833)...or ulmerracing.com. Great products, knowledge and customer service! And-he is a vendor on this site so he is only a PM away.

I have been messing with snowmobile clutches, buying clutch kit's and aftermarket performance parts for 40 year's. Allen Ulmer at Ulmer Racing is the best I have delt with so far and his kit's will do everything you are looking for with any support you may need. Also should you ever decide to go farther with mods Allen has it, has done it, and will set you up usually utilizing what you already have for parts.

I have boxes full of helixes, weights, spring and specialty tools. I have been clutching for 20 years and sick and tired of testing and wasting money on parts that sit on the shelf like holesters. Pile of those also. As I get older I want less guess work. Don't have time to test and tune. Little time to ride even really. So want to buy once and be done! I have heard a few names dropped. Couple site sponsors I pretty sure. Doesn't Hurricane and Pioneer do clutching also or Hygear? I do know Ulmer is at top of my list just comparing is all. Thanks
