Clutching question

What is the best way to clean up the belt ?

Some think it's a complete waste of time, but I've done it many times....

Laundry tub, water, brush and a little (not a lot as you don't want any residue) mild dish soap. Brush faces, top and bottom cogs (turn belt inside out) and air dry (dry well and not with a heat gun). I guarantee you, you'll have black soup pouring off your belt when cleaning...

Here's my sled.
Xtx 137 LE 1.75 Backcountry stock
21-41 gears
9 tooth drivers
Clutching stock
Offset within spec . Has a 1 mm washer.
Had bad rollers, put cat rollers in.

Secondary coil binds 3-3.- belt snapped in half.

Shimmed helix .060" 3-3. Rpm's start at 8800 and then as sled shifts out rpm's fall to 8400.

Shimmed helix .060" 6-1. Rpm's hold 8800-8900 wfo. 110 mph. Both Clutches are getting hot.

I feel mine is slipping yet.
Will secondary clutch still coil bind shimmed .060" and 6-1 wrap?

When was the last time you cleaned your clutches? Also, do you have any oily residue dripping down from the clutch cover and onto the primary via an oiled filter)?

I'd clean everything up (if you haven't done this previously since new) with a rag and acetone on your faces, and keep a close eye on this moving forward (at least you'd have a good reference point, as there are so many variables as to why this could be happening)....I'd also clean up the belt (if you're going to continue running it on clean clutches)...

I clean the clutches often, no residue from the filter, pulled apart secondary tonight, cat rollers are fine, spring doesn't have wear marks on it.

Before shimming the helix and wrapping 6-1 what were you seeing for top end?

Mid 90's due to coil binding in secondary.

When coil binding it felt like it just hit a wall and would surge but no go any faster. Belt slipping.

I don't think I'm getting coil bind, spring doesn't show any wear. I may try shimming just to see if any gains come from it. Mine will top out at 110 and hold it their as long as I want.

Is this with the Ulmer weights and spring installed in primary clutch?
My primary has stock weights and spring yet.

If the belt was slipping that bad you'd have way more belt dust on the clutch and engine IMO. I think the flash of the camera is making it look worse than it is. It appears the clutch moveable sheave (what you can see in the picture) is clean as well as the motor. If it was slipping that'd all be covered in belt dust.
It's not slipping all the way through, my concern was the 3 rings on the top of the sheave. The lower ones are probably from loading in my trailer. I do have brake dust but it's not that bad, I would think it to be normal. I may add s washer in the tip to see if it will add more force up top.

Since someone asked about cleaning the belt, how about the clutch/ sheaves itself? Have been told brake/carb cleaner and one of those green scrubbing pads. Then damp (just water) cloth to wipe/dry. Will this work?

in theory...dalton says the coil stack shouldnt bind and theres sufficient room ...the .60 is just more to the extra room?....If it was me...Id remove the spring and cycle the clutch and see if you have casting flash whereas the sheaves are binding...

also...take (0000) steel wool to the hub and bushings (you can also do the helix ramps) and then blow out with compressed air....check for side loading and bushing bind.
