code 20 after no start. cant figure out.

went to a snowmobile club meeting with my new mpi attak and ran fine on the way there. Then when i left it was a no start. fuel pump was not turning on. tapped on the relays and finally it started. hoping it was a frozen relay.But then when it started i got the code 20 that wouldnt go off. I unplugged the gems and it went away. What is caused this code 20 to go on? i think i have a gremlin inthis sled. The other day when riding in powder i got a error 1 on the guage and it was going all wonky. Well that cured itslf for now. Did i buy myself a headache?

Code 20 would be intake air pressure sensor/ atmospheric air pressure values being off. Shouldn't affect starting.

ya i know. but the lights came on only after the sled wouldnt start. was deffinetly the relay i am thinking

did it again today. Started up this morning fine. put it on trailer and hauled it half hour -20 c. got there tried to start and wouldnt go. Left it till after work and it started but the code 20 is back. What the heck is the fuel pump relay sticking have to do with this code 20? or is it not the relay sticking? any ideas?

I've got the same code however the sled starts, what is the gems you refer to that you unplugged? I unplug the air pressure sensor and the code goes from 20 to 22. I also posted in a code 20 post in the FAQ section and noone has replied. Any luck with figuring out yours?

Check that you dont have moisture in the sensor. We had one in the shop that would not start once outside for awhile and pulled code 20. This was a Mcx Apex and the hose that led to the sensor was full of water.

Thanks, I had a sensor out, but I'm not sure if I was looking at the correct one. After checking another code 20 post here I found that there is another sensor under the air box called an "air pressure sensor" and the one I was looking at is called "temperature sensor" which is mounted to the airbox, in my case the intercooler. I will have to check the one under the air box as it could be moisture. I will keep you posted.

i had a similar thing happen to me yestrday, sled started fine and ran to the place we were going good but when we left the sled would not start and kept giving code 15, 20, 84, after 15 minutes of trying we finally got the sled going but it ran like total #*$&@ and the code 20 would not go away, once it warmed up it ran ok but it was running really lean so i adjusted for it and the sled ran the best it has since i put the kit on!! but we then stoped at the next stop for a few hrs and went back out and the sled wouldnt start again, same codes again, this time after 20 minutes of screwing around we had to unplug the tfi and plug the stock harness back togeter, the sled started so we warmed it up, shut it off, pluged the tfi back in, started it with NO codes so WTF!!!! and of course it ran really ritch so i had to put my tfi back the way it was before it decided to freak out. so my question is, is this thing going to have a mind of its own or what, i have about 300 miles on it and last night was the first time it went goofy after not touching a thing, also why did it run so good with that code 20 flashing??? it was the first time i could get it dialed and make the a/f stay between 12.1 and 13.1 all the time, with no codes the a/f goes crazy between 10.1 to 15.1.

One reason I decided to boost my RX over the fuelies, so much less electronics.

Maybe the GEMS is not working correctly or possibly wet? I see some guys cover thier gems box with a baggy to keep it dry.

mine only flashes the code 20 if it dont start, which i am blaming on the fuel pump relay. i unplugged my relay the other day when my sled wouldnt start and i was getting scared of flooding it. as soon as i did that the code 20 came on and the only way to get rid of it is to unplug the gems and plug the stock harness together and turn the key on. Thats the only way to get rid of the code 20 . after my problems i unplugged everything and put some dielectric greas in the connections. Never got in the ecu but it has been good.Although the powder snow is done for now so i think thats a partial cure not getting snow under hood.
