I'm having a problem with a code 20, i've taken my airbox off and thawed it out in the house reinstalled it and still a code 20. My next step was to take the sled to my brothers heated garage for the night. If that does not work it will be off to the dealer. Has anyone else had a code 20, and how did you deal with it? I thought for sure it was just a build up of snow and ice in the air box.

Sensor could be bad? Maybe a rubbed wire somewhere down that way? Check the sensor on the side of the airbox.

I'll take a look at that , thanks for the suggestion

Sure, no prob. If you do not know how to do the diagnostic test for it from your gauge pod, let me know and I'll tell you how.

-Turn the main switch to "OFF" and set the engine kill switch to "ON".
-Simultaneously press and hold the "SELECT" and "RESET" buttons for 8 sec.
-After selecting "dl", Simultaneously press and hold "SELECT and "RESET" for 2 or more seconds.

For your error code 20, you want to check both Diagnostics codes 02 and 03.
( 02=ATMOSPHERIC Pressure sensor, 03= INTAKE pressure sensor )

You use the "SELECT" and "RESET" buttons to advance or go back through the code number. They are 01 through 70.

Turn the main switch to "OFF" to cancel this and put the gauge back to normal operation.

I'll have to look up the values in my "Big Book". Do that and let me know the values that are shown for both 02 and 03.

OR

To check the sensor output voltage for intake sensor:

-Turn the key to "ON"
-With a pocket tester, the Positive goes to the Pink/White wire and the negative goes to the Black/blue wire. The voltage should be 4.75-5.25V

For Atmosperic pressure sensor:

-Tester Positive to the Pink wire, and the negative to the Black/Blue wire.
Voltage should be the same as above. ( 4.75-5.25 )

Must have been a frozen sensor, because i took her out today after she was thawed out and no problems at all. Put on over 80 miles today running on groomed trails and breaking trail on rivers and lakes. The Yamaha guys were here testing i just wish i got a chance to talk to them, they left today but might be back in the spring. If not i'll wait till next year as they come up here just about every year. They need to design a better air intake that does'nt let in so much snow.

Hey CrazySledder,
Are these tests in the shop manual? Or are they posted somewhere on TY?
I do plan on buying the manual soon. I'd like the hard copy but my dealer says it is $ 179.00 before taxes. He says they doubled in price since Yamaha Canada decided to print them locally. On the US Yamaha site they can be ordered for $79.00 but will only sell to US residents. I have read here that they can be bought on Ebay on CD form.

Call Port Yamaha. I'm sure he'll sell you a manual and will ship it USPS so you only end up paying taxes and $5 brokerage. Or try the Ebay route. Good Luck!

What were those Yami guys riding?????????????
The guys i saw where just riding apex's but they were asking for a spot to test their sleds where they could run at least 100mph for a mile or so. It was funny because one guy had arrived from Japan when we had a blizzard hit with temps as low as -55C and he said he wanted to go back to Japan. Its good that they see those kind of temps when their here.

WOW...thats damn cold. I don't think I would be out riding in that temp! Thats almost 70 below Fahrenheit!!!
